Showing respect after a death

Hello All,

Death affects people differently and everyone has their own way of coping with it and showing respect to those closest around and to the deceased themselves.

I am a school teacher and as a school, we lost 2 very bright and intelligent young men last night in a car crash. A third was badly injured. I asked one of my younger classes to help me out by sitting in silence for the duration of the class as a mark of respect to the older pupils who died. I must say, but these 13 year olds were an absolute credit and even the biggest classroom dossers sat in reflection. It was very moving.

Ah god, the worst ... my stepdaughter graduated Friday, and they'd suffered two student deaths that year.

It was thoughtful for you to have the kids remember their classmates ... we brush death under the carpet in our society, and I think that's a crime. There would have been a time, not to long ago, when the entire school would have attended the funeral of a student.
