shoulder popping sound(rotater cuff)?

I have been working out for 5 years and within the first year and a half, I noticed a popping sound in my left shoulder that also doent feel so good. It started with my arms to my side and lifting out w/weights for my shoulders/delts and would pop going up and right when iam about to go down it would pop louder and jolt my arm.well within the past 3-4 years its been getting worse,l cant even do incline bench,i have to do it with dumbbells,and i cant sent the weight down without it popping so i have a friend take it when iam done.even around the house just picking up a cup,jacket or whatever it pops just not as loud,it seems whenever it gets in a certain position it happens.it will do it without even picking anything up.my question is, is this serious like operation time! or is there some reharb exercise i can do? or just quit doing shoulders.Also i have small biceps everything else is fine,i heard that i should do high weight/low reps...is this true? what kind of routine should i do for bi's? any help would be greatly appreciated.
 
Well Gymjunkie, Tell ya a little about my self first.......2/28/02 had rotator cuff surgery. I had poping and wining for sence 8/99 when i first injured the sholder doing bench the day after doing DB sholder Presses. I had been having problems on an off sence then. What happens is the rotatoe cuff stableizes and keeps the joint in place along the sholder blade and the muscles attached to it. I got two doc's opn's Both told me If you don't repair it you will make NO more gains and will hurt other muscles trying to conpensate.
I really don't know if you have a full tear like I did and if you don't this can be done with out surgery............But the long and the short of it is GET IT CHECKED OUT BY A GOOD SPORTS MED DOC
Don't let it go as long as I did.............All you bro's out there with sholder prob's get them checked out..........the surgery was more then I bargened for..........Good Luck
 
Yea about a month ago I hurt my shoulder doing rows of all things. Docs said they were just strained but now if I simulate the rowing movement, both shoulder pop twice going back then once coming foward. Most of the pain has gone away except if I try to do rows. Bensh, lat pulldowns, military presses are fine. If they don't get better soon, I may take you advise and go to a sports med doc instead of a orthopaedic.
 
Look at the, Promet1 gets one little surgery and he's an expert now!LOL. Just kidding man. How's your shoulder doing anyway? Both of mine are doing great. They haven't felt this good in years!!!
 
the popping could be your labrel tendon

I had a similiar problem a year ago, had to get operated on. It was my labrel tendon rotating over my joint. the doc said it was from tendonitis. It weakend my whole shoulder and made it loose and it popped all the time. About the bi's, It is my experience that i get a better pump on my bi's if i hit heavy weight and low reps, but I do an assload of different bi excercises. Hope this helps.
