Shoulder popping on Flyes

Member
Every single time i go all the way down in my flyes my right shoulder pops. Just slightly and without pain but definitely every time it pops a bit. The angle of the pop is towards the ceiling if that makes sense. It also happens identically on the flat bench although somewhat less frequently. On a similar note it hurts both shoulders when i unrack my biggest sets from the bench hooks. What can i do to help this?

Stop doing them or limit your range of motion. Mine started popping doing dips, close grips and militaries. It didn't hurt and I ignored it and now I can't do militaries anymore. Point is the pops and clicks will turn into pain from my experience. So be careful.

It would also be a good time to start rotator cuff exercises.

You didnt listen lol. I said it was painless.

Oh, my bad. Late night posts. But it still doesn't matter. Popping joints= bad... So i say again. STOP DOING IT IF IT HURTS!

It's not worth messing a shoulder up for good.

I injured my shoulder a few years back and it has popped like that ever since. If you've had a prior injury causing the popping sound, just know that it's never going to be as strong (the joint) as it used to be without surgery. If you dont need surgery, thats great. If it becomes painful, you should probably get it checked out.

I AM on the 5x5 and im NOT doing them but i still know from over a year of lifting it does pop when i do flyes. Once im off the 5x5 i would like to take up doing flyes again for chest development. Im just wondering on what specific excercises might help me. I have heard of various shoulder rehab methods like the YTWL stretching. Im just wondering what i should do for this specific problem. :)

You could go see a DO and have him do the spencer technique on your shoulder.... It's amazing for rotator cuff strains, pulls, etc. And then have him send me a referral fee!
