I agreee with everyone that has posted. McGwire played baseball during a time when steroids wasn't a focus topic. Baseball as an organization never pubically questioned him, or tested him for use of Steroids during his limelight. One major reason being is that in his later years, meaning his homerun record hitting season and after, he was bringing quite a bit of money, and attention to the game of baseball. By this I mean people that never watched baseball, or followed a team, or players, knew who Mark McGwire was, and exactly what he was achieving. People that normally never watched baseball would tune into a game, to see him hit his next homerun.
My question is this: Do you think that Mark McGwire would have been voted into the Hall of Fame, if Jose Canseco never wrote that book and made so many public acquisations?
