Should I work out everyday if I feel like it?

If I really am feeling like going out there and do some HIIT, and then in the afternoon hit the weights, consistently, basically everyday, and not feeling worn out, would this be ok? I am not talking about pushing your limits. If you really feel like working out, why not? Your body should be the one deciding, right?

I´m just wondering if anyway this would still be called overtraining...

You should know how to monitor overtraining if you want to do this.

CNS overtraining is the thing to avoid. Here are some signs:

Rapid heart beat upon waking
restless sleep
nervousness
irritability
feel slow/sluggish/heavy (esp in legs)

Thanx!

If those signs are not present, then I may workout everyday, without overtraining? Maybe do some lighter days and take a day off like every 15 days or so... :)

Newskin, I know exactly how you feel. I have trained the last 4 days. Today is supposed to be rest, but I feel ready to go, and I wanna work out so badly, but I just gotta tell myself I need rest to grow. It aint easy though.

psychedout, I´m no authority when it comes to these subjects, but I believe that if you take nice long restful nights of sleep (and EAT of course!) and don´t have symptoms of overtraining, then you should still grow, and keep on training. I don´t know the TRUTH though :)

imo if you can work out every day then you're not working out hard enough or your training program needs improvement. that's my serious opinion, no flame intended.

there could be some truth there. here's my .02..
i work out five days a wk- sun and thurs off. when on juice, i try to cram in 28 sets of 10reps each into 1 hr or as quickly as possible- that would be quite intense and there's no way i would want to train every day then. when off, 45 mins to 1hr is the thumb rule i follow with about 20-24 sets of around 10reps each. i have read in alot of places that cortisol starts to set in after 45 mins- 1 hr. i used to work out 6 days a wk for nearly 2 hrs at one time and found it to be a fucked way to live. now i enjoy myself more and don't follow any fixed routine- i do what my body feels- or more importantly, give attention to less developed areas.
the point is that i don't recommend overtraining even on juice anymore and it isn't so bad to undertrain.

I know how you feel. Some weeks I train 7 days and then think to myself Oh fuck now I need to take a day off. OMFG, I think I'm addicted to working out now. How did that happen?
