Should I have lied to my wife?

It`s a long story but I`ll shorten it. About a year ago my friend called me out of the blue to CAR-SIT his truck while he went on vacation for a month. He actually bought it THAT day too. So the truck is in my driveway and my wife comes home, "Who`s truck is that?"... I just looked at her and WAS GOING TO TELL HER, but... she said "Did you just buy that?" So I said to myself wtf? My buddy`s gone for a month and no one will find out for now. and said "YES, YES I DID." lol

That weekend we had our family come over the house for a big dinner and she told EVERYONE that we just bought the truck in the driveway. OMG! lol Everybody was talking about it, blah blah... congrats!!! blah... The shit was getting really deep by now.

My neighbors were all congratulating me... it was terrible. lol

Well a week later I told her the truth and she flipped. She had told all her coowrkers and everything. lol

Tell you the truth I had`nt even sat in the truck yet. My friend dropped it off and left the keys. I did`nt even move it.

Just a little bit of info... When we were dating, I had purchased her a car when she was looking for one, so it was`nt totally out of thequestion that I do something like this.

She finally forgave me. It was so convenient and totally a joke, I did`nt mean any harm at all. Would you be pissed?

I would be pissed only because I don't get why you'd lie about it in the first place. But I'd get over it. It's not like a painful betrayal or something. It's just a car.
