Should girls train chest?

JoNeS

Every since I've gotten into good shape, alot of girls have asked me for training advice. I have a hard time recomending to girls to train their chest. I absolutely hate the chest striations, and boob separation, that some of the more serious women body-builders have. But, for the recreational girl who is into fitness should they train their chest? I guess they should a little right...so they can be proportiant to their back. And also assuming they don't want the seperation and striations, should they just go rather low to medium intensity? Or is it better to not train it at all............ thx

Yes, females should train chest. No doubt about it. First, just becasue YOU hate it, doesn't mean that it is not in line with the FEMALES goals. Whatever HER goals are should be first priority.

Next, I have been training chest *heavy* for several months and am SO happy. I never trained chest that hard before. Now, my boobs look SO much better! SIlly, I know....but they really do. They are firmer, higher and MUCH less 'droopy'.

The fitness competitor look comes from EXTREMELY low BF and large implants. I doubt any recreational weight lifter would ever get this look SIMPLY from training chest a couple times a week.

Parker women dont have testicles so we absolutely do not have the capacity to get big thick pectorals like a man. It takes AAS and years of intense dedicated training for one of us to end up with those thick striated pecs you dislike. And the striation is a symptom of very low bodyfat which is all about diet not muscle size.

So I recommend high intensity training for all bodyparts. Train like a guy, if she can press a certain weight 20 times its too light. Well trained pecs will lift the boobs and there isnt a woman alive that wouldnt like that.

YES!

And I second everything Daisy & Anya already said.

A woman that does train chest is like a man that does train calves.

I agree with everyone else. To completely skip training a part of the body (well, unless that part is injured) is silly. Just because she's a woman doesn't mean she needs to train different than you do.

And unless she's planning to drop her body fat down to a body building competition percentage, there's no need to fear her getting striated.

So I should recomend to the women who ask me how to train, to bascially train the same way that I train. Every body part, once a week, 4 exercises per muscle, 4-5 sets 8-14 reps. Just lower the weight?

If they are newbies I would personally give them a 3 day split with 3 exercises, 3 set of 12 or to failure. Then depending on how they respond I'd start changing things up a bit.

Oh and don't let them few the weight they use - high reps and low weights are only good for learning form - IMHO

YES - Girls should train chest, along with the rest of their bodies. All the muscles work together both aesthetically and functionally.

The pic below was from a few years ago when I was pre-implant :D (it's all padding in that bikini top). Even though there was nothing there in the way of boobage, the line down the center of my chest gives an illusion of cleavage. Well, sort of :FRlol:

Anyway, adding muscle to a flat chest also covers up the sternum bones, which ain't too pretty. Adding muscle to a well-endowed chest gives the breasts a firmer foundation. It also tightens that area right below the armpit (at the pec/delt tie-in) where many women have extra fat. Training chest will not directly decrease breast size. Losing bodyfat will though.

I had a client that never trained chest before she came to me. Thought it would shrink her boobs, whatever.

Had developed shoulders and back, but a sunken looking chest where pecs should have been. Looked very strange.

She looks much better now. Too fat to have striations so she has no problems.

I feel the same way...although all women have diff. goals, your chest will not get huge overnight. If you happen to reach a size that you are comfy with, then just stop upping the weight and perform a maintenance routine. Those women with the large chests work thier asses off to get that way. I've yet to hear a guy say "I think my chest is too big" and I don't think I ever will either!

I bench about 90-100 lbs right now, free weight & weigh about 135-140. My BF % is too high to have that look of separation, etc. So, like everyone says, have her start with a weight that won't cause her to hurt herself & work her way up from there. I can lift just as heavy as most guys & you wouldn't know it to look at me.

I love my muscle cleavage...and that nice curve coming from my armpit, too. I just can't imagine not training my chest.

Plus, it's so much fun to press what the young guy on the next bench is lifting. Especially when their friends notice and rib them about it.

I love this too! I workout at a gym that is primarily a tennis club with nothing but cardio queens and circuit trainers, so it feels awesome to show the men up! My husband is my trainer and unfortunately encourages that behavior.

fitfossil....so true, so true....

bwilson...you're damn right, hell nothing gets big overnight, darn.
j/k...:)

My man always had the cardio queens, oh, cardio queens with big ta ta's at that. Then comes along me, BBing is my thing, soooo I have no ta ta's...LOL. Once upon a breast feeding day I sported D's, ahhh.......but now, nada, nothin......uhemmmm, well no jiggly stuff, straight muscle and he says he loves it! He sees me put so much hard work into it, and says one of his fave things to do is run his hands over the m.cleavage, i'm like okie dokie!

yes attaining the huge chest for a chick is a lot of work, i have worked up to 185fw/ bench / 55lbDB's and im by no means humungo, well i take that back, standing next to a cardio queen, i guess over all i am a big girl...funk it, i work for it, i love it.

sorry for the rambling, but back to biz,
*target all areas of the pectorals - upper, mid, lower...as YOU know to do. what's a big damn diff with men/women, oh yeah, test. soooo with that being said, she/they arent gonna blow up, but moreso over, striations, separations like what i think you're describing is after one kiiiiiiick ass diet and/or comp prep. NOT to say you cant have them w/o that work...you get my drift.

Thow em on the bench, toss em on the iso hammers, put em under the cables....in the future they'll thank ya....or atleast their better half will! LOL,
train hard,
~g~

yes they should train chest but not to the level wher eyou cause striations caus eyou can start to lose um "boob" mass sorry for the term its 3 am writing this before bed

Striations and breast mass are solely a function of diet and % bodyfat. It has absolutely nothing to do with training chest. I don't know how these myths get started, but they just never die.

Look at any pro female BB or fitness comp. in and off season and regardless the pec muscle mass and you'll find that the striations and amount of breast fat depends on body fat.

Wilson is right. Even before I worked my chest as a woman, my weight would fluctuate and so would my breasts. This is true with all women. The fatter you are, generally the larger your breasts will become because the female breast contains majority fatty tissues.

ok fine don't listen to me next i bet your gonna tell me steroids don't shrink breast tissue in some females

I train chest I think a lot more older woman should it helps out gravity. I wont worry about seperation etc tell my BF% gets pretty dam low. As Daisy said it really wont effect most rec. lifters just help them stay perky. Bench press is also a great compound works more than just your chest.

"next i bet your gonna tell me steroids don't shrink breast tissue in some females"

Nope.

That is correct, AAS will shrink breast tissue in some females. Will cause a redistribution of various fat depots in some women. But, working the chest without fat loss will not. May change the appearance somewhat because of the added muscle behind the fat, or perhaps lift the breasts somewhat, but won't shrink them.

bwilson: well am i lost or what.....no girl talks like what?

(I admit, I was rather confused myself. I've found you can find a girl that talks like anything...I can't imagine a way in which no girl anywhere talks.)

Pardon me for interfering with your role playing, but wouldn't you feel more comfortable on a transsexual/transvestite forum? With others like yourself?

I owe you an apology. After doing a search on your posts I can see that I was out of line. Some of my favorite women have mouths that would make a priest blush.
Sorry,

Talk any way you like, don't change to make others more comfortable.

My first post on the Womens forum I thought I was calling out a jackass. Turns out the jackass was me.

Ya know, after thinking about some of the crude things I've said on the chat board, I'm realizing that I have no room to talk. Plus, everyone thinks I'm a man because my husband posts on the anabolic board under the same account. Oh well, sorry again!
