Should gay men continue to be banned from donating blood?

Of all the things I debate about during the day with people I swear.

Think this last piece of discrimination by the government (efficately saying, AIDS *is* a gay man's disease) should be tossed away?

No. I think everyone should be allowed to donate blood, especially since the blood's going to be tested anyways.

and

Yes. AIDS *does* primarily affect gay men, and therefore gay men should not be in a position to donate blood.

So I guess, final answer: I dunno?

Neither should drug users.

It's simply limiting risk. If you are at a higher risk of having HIV/AIDs, you shouldn't donate blood. Yeah it's tested, but the burden is on the handlers to A) do it, and B) do it right.
