Was talking with a co-worker about this movie yesterday and then curling's thread got me thinking about it again today.

Who has seen this movie/mini-series. Came out in the 70's starred Richard Chamberlain as a dutch ship captain who shipwrecks in Japan. Pretty much for the average american it was the first look at feudal Japan and the Samurai.

I also like Akira Kurisawa films. I was watching "Ran" last night before I fell asleep.

Yeah, I remember the miniseries. I liked it. I remember everyone reading the book too.

God, what year was that? Nevermind, I don't want to know......

I own Shogun on VHS tapes, has a real nice hinged box set for it. Also have the book, I actually kind of prefer the movie myself. The music in the miniseries was awesome.

Nice I need to see it again. Maybe I'll watch it next week.
