Today i decided to do deads and i did 250 and it felt heavy and dident get it up to easy. Then i started thinking and i decided to take off my shoes since there was no trainer or anyone in there telling me something. I got up 270 without to much difficulty then i just decided to throw on 310 for the heck of it feeling so good about the 270 and bam. I got it up however i almost dropped it because of my grip like it rolled out right as i was setting it down so i decided not to shoot for 315. Anyways thats the story and the reason i am decideding to get me some oly shoes or squat shoes or something that serves the purpose. So i was wondering which was are best and aren't to expensive or just something that works??

Chuck Taylors for PL squats and deads, Oly shoes for Oly squats. You can deadlift without shoes if your gym will allow it. I used to just take my shoes off, do a set, then slip 'em back on w/out tying them between sets and no one seemed to notice or care.

what's the advantage of taking the shoes off for deads...?
closer to the ground. less distance to pull. plus you are flat footed vs. being pitched forward with most gym shoes. worst yet is running shoes. squishy and a heel.

best bet would be chucks to stay flat footed and have good support.
