Shock Reaction to Needle

Snarling Force

Active member
I'm just weeks away from doing my first real AS cycle. I'll be injecting into my glutes.

So this past week, I visited a doctor for some persistent wrist pain that has been going on for months. He gave me an injection by sticking the needle right into my left wrist, right on the outer left side where there is only bone and cartilage. Needless to say it hurt like a son of a bitch. Within seconds a feeling came over me and I thought I was going to pass our or puke or something. The doctor and the nurse there said it was some sort of shock reaction, they gave it a name that I can't remember, but said it was the opposite of the flight or fight response. Instead of our capilaries constricting, all my capilaries dilated. They said they have seen it happen quite a bit in males. This was a horrible feeling and lasted about 10 minutes. Anyone ever had one of these?

My question is, did this happen because of where the shot was and how bad it hurt or is this a sample of what I might have to deal with everytime I do an injection when I start my cycle? I've been pricked with needles in the past and never had such a reaction. Thanks!

The same sort of thing happens to me with every injection. I have to remind myself to breath, or else this happens. Just be sure to breath in and out, good deep breaths and you will be fine. I don't think it was because of the site, I think it was more of a psychological reaction.

I've had this, I fainted on my first ever injection! Just woke up 5 minutes later on the floor feeling dizzy.

Been fine with the needle since that though. I'm sure it was psychological with me - you'll soon get used to it.

Must be psychological. I have done hundreds of injections of all kinds of different things and never had this. Since Boulder has had this too, we will assume this isnt a 'just you' kind of thing and is probably something you want to be aware of and watch for when you start your cycle. Who knows though, you might never have it again, I mean, you arn't going to shoot AAS into your wrists, I know that.

Thanks for all the replys guys. I'm a bit nervous now to know I may have to experience that horrible feeling again but I'm going to do it. I'll let you all know how it turns out...

Hmmm...I never have a problem sticking myself. It's all in your head.

Yeah it the suspense before the shot. After a few, it'll be cake. Plus, you'll shooting intra-muscular - not like that wrist shot you had. It won't hurt mcuh at all. :)

sounds you injected into a vein

heres a lil tip..inj right after a hot shower..the skin is softer, the needle slides right in like butter, total painless. Maybe that will help--worth a try.

I get the samne with tattoos and i have alot of them and everytime i get sweaty and lightheaded. Just have a glass of water and or some sugar ready and you should be fine!

I almost passed out my first time, I was shakingand sweating like a little pussy and needed to sit down and have a glass of orange juice. Smooth sailing from there though...

It's all in your mind. I used to faint at blood tests as a teenager. However, in my early 20s I managed to do daily injects into my biceps and triceps. You can change. Trust me. :)

I have seen you say this before. I will be honest and say, I have never done it right after a shower, but, I have taken a shower right afterwards. I would think that the heat on the site afterwards would do more to reducing pain from the injection, maybe not the inital stick, but the pain that comes later.

Though I go by the rule, inject into the muscle you are going to work out that day and it works great. The old way, there would be days that stairs killed me from a quad shot, but not now.

Why not inject in the MIDDLE of a shower? You will be clean (you should be anyways) and you get benifits of injecting before and after a shower all at once.
