shin splints

anyone else experience this? I get it extremely bad.

I even get them when I walk during the normal day. I use to get them and it was minor but now it is just unbearable.

I was thinking there might be some ways to releive the pain besides just resting. I'd rather use other methods than stop my normal walking during the day and my cardio sessions of jogging.

maybe use icey hot before training and wrap the shins up to eleviate the pain.

I think mine are caused from having flat feet. Go buy some arch supports for your feet/shoes and see how those work for you

no doubt thats what I might do also...Get some arch supports and I nice good pair of running sneakers...

I usually run in my k-swiss cross trainers. Actual running shoes might help a ton.

might go for the nike shocks, they look like they're very comfortable.

I had them BAD a while ago fro basketball and tennis. I saw a doc who told me to use heat/ice to treat them, gave me an anti-inflamatory. I also bought a neoprene leg sleeve (you've seen them on pro basketball players) and it helped immensely.

basketball players wear that shit for looks hahah.

i have a pair of shox VC2... very very comfortable shoes, and i have flat feet + shin splints all day

ICE ICE BABY. Works wonders. Freeze water in those little bathroom size cups and then peel the paper off as the ice melts. 15 mins or so a day should do the trick.

My feet are completelty flat. I got a 3 inch vertical. Lol. I wear New Balance cause thats what my doc says have the best arch support that don't cost a fortune. A kid at my work has some custome made arch supports I'm thinkin about gettin. I think insurance pays for em too. They're like $300.

I get them too and it's usually when I'm running.
I wearing heels nearly everyday and I'm fine - put me in flat shoes and I'm crying.

I would look for different shoes and see what happens.

i have a around a 28-29" vertical and it doesn't bother me when i jump... but only when running... and sometimes walking in shoes that don't have good arch support

oh, and strengthening the tibialis should help for sure. when i worked on my calves a lot, i had a lot of pain till i began balancing it out again

Walk on your heels for a few minutes each day

Get on a 45 degree Leg Press, put your heels on the very top of the pressing platform, and pull your toes towards you

i had them so bad that last spring/summer I couldn't rollerblade and this past fall I had trouble playing hockey. It got to the point that I couldn't stand up.

Ice and all the other things didn't work. Went to my therapist that does Active release therapy and after 2 sessions they haven't come back!

BD would ART work for tendonitis too?

It works wonders, most of the time a person doesn't have tendonitis but tendonosis.

I have used this for my shoulder, Bicep, pec and forearm injuries with incredible results.

With this therapy, my Dr. wants me to keep active. Not doing anyting causes the buildup of scar tissues.

I wasted 3 years and lots of shoulder pain with lack of range of motion. This therapy had me back to normal in about 5 sessions.

My Dr. told me that after 2-3 sessions a person will know if the therapy will work for them or not.

A few minutes of pain each session verses the everyday pain I have is a no brainer. Had this shit for a month at least now. No back excercises and one set of curls a week is making me nuts(and small). Fuck hammer curls!

These guys go by feel so usually the guys with more experience should have a better feel for things.

I agree with you, the 10-15 minutes of pain is more then worth it to get bck in the gym and back to a normal workout.

you might try doing mild plyometrics. I did a basic plyo routine (brutal on my knees), but i feel as if is i don't get shin splints anymore except when standing on my feet for prolonged periods with no rest.
