Shelf life of powders?

Sorry, this is probably a stupid question.

I'm getting ready to order some powders, but have found that the price really plummets when you order larger quantities. Frugal bastard that I am, I'd like to save some money by stocking up, but am worried the powder might go bad.

Anyone know how long it takes for powder var, for instance, to go bad before it's used. Does it need to me refridgerated?

They have a long shelf life, just keep em dry and cool, but ofcource the only thing is given your location, and I'm assuming the powders would be bought from overseas, you'll have a much higher chance of siezure..

keep em cool and dry and I think they would be more than fine for 3 years w/o deteriorating, the only thing is keep them dry so it don't start to crystalize or clump..
