would it make sense to say that the advent of attractive women in popular media make women more self conscious about their bodies and make some feel insecure about how they look.

true, but that advent was the beginning of history -- beautiful women have always been glorified, back to Greek/Roman mythology, Cleopatra, Helen of Troy, etc., and there has never been a time when it was "better" for a woman to be unattractive. difference is that ancient Egypt didn't have "Cosmo" and "Friends" and most people were too busy trying not to starve to work themselves into hysteria over this stuff.

How I view men

What I appreciate most about men, and how I view them, is that for the most part what you see is what you get. Most men don't have any hidden agendas. There's no wondering about what he really meant but that. If he said I looked nice in that dress, that's what he meant. Period.

I can't speak for how men view women, but it seems to me that us women often look too hard for hidden messages in what men say.

This question is way too general....every person is different in the way they view the opposite sex...the way I see a man can be completely different from the next woman...if you want to get general then yes, men may be more inclined to view a woman in a more sexual manner...as opposed to a woman who would view a man in a more emotional state, seeing him as a caregiver or protector....but like I said this is a general statement...
