Almost all my sweaters or long sleave shirts are getting holes in the elbows unless the material is extermely thick.I don't know what they fuck is causing it or if I can stop/fix it.

Are you hand washing them and then reshaping them. Sounds like the fabric is wearing out.

hand wash inside out with baby shampoo and reshape lie them flat to dry

Fuck people this is serious. I had two brand new sweaters get holes in right elbow the first time I wore them to work. Trust me I shop a hell of a lot more clothes is not an issue just gets annoying as some of my favorite stuff is ruined and can't figure out why.

are they, at any point in the day, getting caught on something? I don't have that problem.

i had the same probs with my padded bras, the padding would fall apart
my hillarious mom would say my boobs had teeth
otherwise i have no clue

Is your desk at work real wood? I used to have my elbows get undue wear on my jacket sleeves when I had sort of a rough desk. You rest your elbows on things lots?

I thought they were but I can't seem to find the source of the problem on my desk or in the office.

Blue yeah it is an old house but this has just started recently like past 6 months or so. Plus as I said it is brand new clothes too (not just old stuff) the more deliecate the material the faster it happens.

Before anyone asks I don't have rough or boney elbows. :worried:

lol

That was my next question. tee hee hee

I don't know what to tell ya. Try the handwashing thing. I handwash all my sweaters. Do it on the weekends.

This is a mystery! You have to rubbing them somewhere. Or maybe like Klue your elbows have teeth? ;-)
Maybe you're using a new laundry soap?

Thing is it happend with new clothes even before washing.

Heather the desk is fiber board I think not rough smooth. I guess I do rest my elbows a lot but how do I prevent from doing that?

hmmmm well I just don't know hun. Good luck figuring out this mystery

Do you use laundry bleach or some kind of detergent enhancer? This will beat the SHIT out of your clothing. This past summer we got a new washer/dryer, one of those low water usage models (sonofagun only uses 8 gallons to wash a load!) Yeah, great, but after a few weeks of using it like a regular machine I noticed everything smelled ... funky, not clean. I had to start using Oxyclean to get a decent wash and for the stuff to come out smelling fresh, only problem was I noticed stuff, particularly older stuff, seems to suddenly be developing holes at fucking record speeds. Now the vast majority of my clothing is cotton/natural fiber, and I'm not big on shopping so, yeah, chalk it up to time and useage but detergent boosters can wear out your clothing.

But these holes are in random locations, getting repeated holes in the same part of shirts means something is damaging them in that specific area.

Is there any chance you've been around battery acid (like from a car battery) or some other corrosive agent? That you might have just brushed it with your elbow? It wouldn't have to be enough to visibly burn to damage the clothing. The holes show after you wash and would almost look like giant moth holes.

Gosh, it is just sort of a habit you have to develope by not resting your elbows on things. I had the underside of a desk once that beat the shit out of every skirt and pant. I finally just asked to switch out desks.

I wash my sweaters (and my makeup brushes) in baby shampoo. Seems to make them last a long time and stay supple. If you do them all at once on the weekend, it only takes about 10 minutes. =-)

lol @ women. again. even the chimpanzees at the zoo don't entertain me this much. btw, learn to sew. like a real woman should.

My detergent never changed but come to think of it at home they did put in washers and dryers. Like I said it happends even with new stuff my preference is cotton too natural fibers etc. No car I work in a corprate enviroment there is no random acid laying around. I am thinking it is how my key board and mouse is postioned maybe my elbow rubs to much or something.

A decent piece of clothing costs a decent $$$ ... you pay the money expecting to get reasonable use out of it.

You can't just sew up some stuff, it looks like hell.

If you paid $200 or more for a jacket and then got a hole in the elbow after one or two wearings, you're telling me you wouldn't be pissed? A decent sweater can cost $100 or more, and it's virtually impossible to invisibly mend something like that, unlike the jacket.

do you have rough skin on your elbows? maybe some lotion or a loopha sponge.
