Hey I messed up my shoulder and rotator cuff in october then at christmass started working out. Well 3 weeks ago I fell pretty hard and did it again but not as bad this time. But it is really hard for me to do incline rows like imd own to 15 pounds or whatever where i used to be at 50. It hurts on some other exercises to so I just stopped workin out. Then a few days ago i broke a few lower ribs so sit ups are out to. How long should I wait to do sit ups again for just cracked ribs, untill they ribs stop hurting when I do a sit up, or is there a few weeks I should wait. And how do i strengthen my rotator cuff or how long does it usually take till you can start working it out again. Thanks

ribs: let them heal. my roommates took forever because he kept messing them up.

rotator: see the links sticky above

Which link couldn't find one.. Is there a way to tell if a rib his fully healed without gettin it xrayd? I'm guessing that just when it stops hurting when like pressing agaisnt it its about halfway but i could be wrong

I assume you went to the doctor for all this stuff right? Just ask him what to do, and follow his advice. Which rotator cuff muscle was it?

Of cource for rib xrays, 3 fractured. Doctor said shoulder was seperated and muscles were stretched. Then from the symptoms i described weeks later some of my lifting partners and friends who have had there rotator cuffs messed up said exactly what was happenin to me. I didn't have it looked at or scanned. I originally messed up the shoulder from lifting a snowmachine in october. This time i messed it up from fallin invertly on my shoulder on a 20 foot table 'jump' snowboarding Heard a crack and couldnt move shoulder for a few hours and could not lift it. So I'm guessing from waht u guys said I should go have it scanned to see how my cuff is messed up then going from there?

You need to find out exactly what type of dislocation you had in your shoulder. That will help in terms of knowing what kind of movements to stay away from in the future. i have separated my shoulder several times throughout the years although its been about almost 10 yrs since the last time. Still however, there are certain movements that i cannot do and that would cause my shoulder to dislocate again. I dont remember what type of dislocation it was, but any movement where my arm is above my head and pushed back (as in behind the neck shoulder press, overhead tri esxtensions, etc) i cannot do. I even feel slightly unstable at times when doing the typical tricep stretch wherre you place your palm on your back and elbow up next to your ear. So be careful.
