Since I started filming some of my lifts I figure I'll just post up here.

This first one is me doing 315 on bench for 6. This is where I tear my left pec.

No comments on the pale belly.LOL

Good reaction by the spotter, he was in there quick.

How long ago was the tear?

The reps looked great until the tear.

Yeah he's one of the guys I train at my gym. That was on monday so three days ago now. Yeah they felt great and I was planning on hitting at least 10 before the tear.

That sucks, it looks like you would have had the 10 easy.

Hope you have a quick recovery. What is the plan?

Yeah I was thinking about 12-15 since it felt great but oh well.

Take a couple weeks off from training chest. Get the swelling and bruising cleared up then start super light and see where it takes me. Right now I'm icing, taking advil, and doing a lot of deep tissue modulation to help prevent scar tissue from forming.

Are you doing the deep tissue modulation yourself?

djeclipse said:
That first one went up like it was nothing, really fast.

Didn't your pec bother you?

Luckily no, but that's about all I was thinking about so I probably could have done more but just wasn't in it.

Learned the deep tissue thing from a friend a long time ago. Plus I've had work done on me before and paid attention to how they did it.

tear looked pretty painful....hows the healing going?

Really didn't hurt that much just took me by surprise. Healing is going well I did overhead presses today (really light) and it felt fine.

Seriously you are doing great so far man. I have been lifting a lot longer than you so don't try and do the same form as me just yet. Keep up the good work and great things will come to you.

225x5 strict OHP

Great vid... that is my goal for OHP.

Why do you pause for so long at the top, doesn't that tire your shoulders/ tries?

I lock out for a short pause and then right back down for the next rep.

I pause at the top because that's the easiest rest point. At the full lockout the joints are supporting most of the weight. Also in competition you have to wait for them to tell you to put it down.

I "rest" at the bottom, are you sating it's better to rest at the top, at lock out?

It's a personal thing I like resting at the top better. Once you get heavy it's hard to breath with the weight sitting on your chest.

I find it the other way around for the OHP, I find it hard to breathe while keeping everything tight at the top of the lift.

This past Wed, I matched my previous 5 rep Pr and almost passed out on my last rep, lol

Looking good man.

Thanks, aside from the pec everything else is feeling pretty good.

I still can't believe you are able to do this with the injury yo have. Makes it more impressive.

great videos, any squatting videos?

Not yet I'll post some up when I get back to lifting. I'm taking this coming week completely off then starting in a lighter training phase. I plan on keeping this going.

DJ- yeah it didn't bother me at all doing OHP but it is definitely still very tight even though the swelling is almost gone.

Here's me doing 225 x8

Here's 315 x10

First day back squatting after 4 weeks off. Had some elbow problems and the torn pec which effected my ability to hold the bar.

I have a question about your pec tear. It seems like you have a good deal of knowledge and experience with lifting, so let me ask you this. In hindsite, what do you think was the cause of your pec tear (other than the fact that you were moving some awesome weight, of course!)? If you could go back in time, would you change your training in anyway to prevent it?

I know that sometimes stuff like that just happens for no foreseable reason, so I was wondering what you thought about it in hindsight. It'd be nice if others of us could avoid a simular incident.

Honestly I don't think there is much I could have done to avoid it. I had a small tight feeling spot in the pec for a few weeks but usually went away after I warmed up. I had been lifting much heavier in the previous weeks before the injury so it wasn't due to the amount of weight. I think the biggest part of the problem was that I had torn the same pec 10 years earlier but hadn't had any troubles for about nine years. I probably should have had some deep tissue work done to help get rid of the scar tissue, but oh well.

memory of watching the World's Strongest Man competition and hearing that Scottish dude say "lift...good lift" after every rep.

Nice work.

Squats look really good man. I'm noticing just a few things but I'm sure that it is just from not squatting in a while.

Your flexibility in your hips and back is really great! Especially for a big guy!

Once your hams come back in the squat I think that you will sit back FIRST instead of down a little. Just minor but I'm sure you will take care of that quickly as your hams get stronger.

Make sure to drive those knees out on the last few reps. Moving in just a little as you got tired. Again...just weakness in the hips and flexors...time will fix this easily!

Looking good man!

As always I appreciate your input! Yeah I noticed the same thing and have pretty much corrected it. I have always been fairly flexible probably because I got my athletic start in gymnastics until my parents let me play football in sixth grade.

Yeah the strength has been coming back in the hips and hams pretty well. Hit 500x2 last week then dropped for 410x6. I haven't really been focusing on squatting too much but that's going to change after my contest on the 28th. I just got my first squat suit and am looking to maybe to a full powerlifting meet this fall.

Thanks again.
