I just got commissioned to make 6 pieces of artwork for a company that pays me $600 a piece for them (its insane. They aren't worth that, but who am i to complain). They cost me about $10 each in supplies (wood, paint, glass, varnish) and about 3 days, although while one is drying, I can start on another- so i can have all 6 in various stages of completion.

I wish the work was steady, which it isn't, and why I can't decide if I should go back to work or not.

but for now... i'm HAPPY!

can we see pics of some of your work?

Congrats on the commission. =-)

ohhhhhhh Cool.

Congratz on getting some work, btw.

Pics of your work... or of an artist that uses similar medium?

here's two pics of some work i've done (i swear they are not crooked- they just look wobbly in the pic. they are perfectly squared at the corners), but this isn't the exact kind of artwork i sold- i don't have any other pics on this computer of stuff i've done though.

Beautiful stuff. Matter of fact my man and I went for a walk around Grapevine the other day. (Little old city with some shops.) And went into a shop that had all sorts of glass and wire, sculpting etc work... I would LOVE to learn how to do that stuff!

i don't know what kind of art you do- i also paint but its not my forte. you could start working in stained glass with minimal investment- you just need a place to work that is ONLY for that though- I won't cut glass on my dining room table for example- so i need a studio. It can be as little as a closet you put a desk in, or a corner of the room that you sweep up every night.
There are very small kilns you could start with if you wanted to work small, or make jewelry, OR, get a torch and work that way, making only small beads and things for jewelry making or embelishments to other art.
I have made a lot- i just don't have pics handy. lamps, windows, cabinets, large window hangings, etc.

I paint my daughters nails. Does that count?

She's 4 btw, so don't hate.

and Congrats Stilleto, I told you that you could do it, even though you were down and out and crying on my shoulder. I said "You can do it.", slapped you, grabbed you by your shoulders and shook you, and said "Get a hold of yourself woman!. Now get out there and paint, PAINT like you mean it!", and the rest is history. Aren't you glad you listened to me?

um.. yes, i am.
i'm so glad. its funny too, that I listened to you MINUS the painting thing, since I don't really paint that much, but it was your kick in the ass that got me started.
and now its your turn. turn around and bend over my friend, cause I got my ass kickin' boots on and your number has just been called!
ps- i'd vote you back in as a mod. If'n there was a vote, which there ain't.
