SCAMMED by a GYM!?!?

When I went to work out the other day, my gym was closed, much of the equipment was gone, the lights were out and there was no explanation.

I had been there 2 days earlier. Had paid up through July, in cash, and had a locker full of workout clothes and a $100 pair of sneakers. There's no way in and the bastards gave no notice.

Scumbags.

By the way, its Bodysculpt in NYC on 79th and 2nd

I heard about this shit on the consumer report in the news the other night. some guy opened gyms in the city and didn't come through with the equipment. I don't know. it was a diff. name than yours. but go to the Fox news website and i think there's a consumer alert section or some shit where u can report the incident and they'll take care of it

Sorry bro. It happens from time to time. Your money is gone!!!
I been running gyms for awhile and it sucks. They can close up and take your money, it is in the contact. Trust me. Check out Crunch by u. Ask for Jack or call the Crunch on Laffette Street and speak to Elizabeth. She is hot. Nice huge tits! Tell her, her friend from Yonkers said to see her. She will take care of u. I worked with both of them for awhile. If u want are more hardcore gym, check out Dolphin uptown too. Good luck and sorry!

I had a gym do the same thing and I thought I was just out. But 10 months later I get a check in the mail for 145 dollars(6months membership) from an attorney that went after the owner along with the better business bureau-they caught up with her 1000 miles away trying to start up another gym---Call the better business bureau and just tell them what happend----i'm sure they already know about it----

I train at that gym sometimes, as it's near my girlfriend's house. It's a decent gym (although not as well-equipped as my regular gym) and they have a few nice pieces of equipment. I'll swing by there tomorrow and see what's up--I hope to hell they're not closed, as it's such a convenient place to train and I don't really like NY Sports Clubs that much.

Some people lived in the house behind us where I grew up - the man owned some kind of construction company and always had guys working on his house (I mean constantly), and the wife, and aerobics instructor, made a whole business of opening and closing gyms. Never pay long term unless you really really really trust a gym. It is easy to lease some equipment, rent some warehouse space, take in those 1 or 2 year memberships, and then fuck off with the money, and some people make a whole career out of it.

I hated those scumbags, they moved in behind us after some nice old folks moved out, and it was pool parties every weekend with their phony friends. They even named their cat "Izod."

"Izod, Izoooood!"

Like something right out of "That 80's Show."

I remember speaking with the young guy who's at the desk on weekend nights (forget his name) a couple weeks ago, and he mentioned that they were going to be doing some renovation on the street level. Maybe that's why some of the equipment is gone. Street level just had cardio equipment, 2 delt machines, preacher curl machine and horizontal squat machine anyway. Watch out if you see guys coming up the stairs with all the free weights, though.

Honestly, I hope they're not closed. Didn't they become a Dolphin for a while, and then revert back to the old name and management?

Truth,
I think your right about them being affiliated with Dolphin for a while, except that the partnership never worked out because the Bodysculpt owner wasn't putting any money into it.

The short maintenance guy now works at the new Dolphin on East 42nd street and he claims they owe him 3 weeks in salary which he thinks he'll never see.

In terms of just fixing the place up and renovating. They would have given us more notice and at least put a sign on the door.

Aparently, Dolphin might buy them. I just joined the pre-sale at the Dolphin on 42nd, and have been working out at the one on 59th street. They said they give me a rebate if the ended up buying Bodysculpt.

The Dolphin people are good people in my book, so far. Decent gym. Good price for NYC.
