Say no to size zero..

There is something very screwy about women's clothing sizes, if I was a lot smarter and understood more about psychology I'd be able to understand it better. Think about the fact that women's sizes run from 00 and up. There are women out there who STRIVE to BE a Zero, Nothing, or even 00 which is less than nothing. What does that subconsciously do to a woman's perception of herself? And what does it say about the women who can NEVER be a zero, who are thought LESS of because they can't BE zeros?

Fucking twisted.

A month or so ago I was looking for a skirt and I picked one up that looked like it would fit me well, tried it on, looked at the tag....Size 12!!! I was like ARE_YOU_KIDDING_ME. Then I realized, it was a child size 12. In an adult clothing store.

picture evidence of nef in said skirt. :qt:

lol, it is kinda silly that you'd freak out just because it said the number 12.

society is definately doing a number on our female population, I think alot of like a real woman.

the ones who eat ribs and don't show them off. =)

So you don't pay attention to the size when you're shopping for skirts?

I could care less about the number in the label since I know EXACTLY how screwed up the way they size clothing is. Used to BIGTIME mess with my head. Now I know that at any given time, in any given store I will be a 2 to a 6 or men's size 28/33 (I like my pants to bag at the bottom LOL).

Yes, I DO wear men's jeans. :)
People our age, that's a little different. The 25 and under set are so incredibly image focused, and then to have that reinforced with models and celebrities striving to be unrealistically/unhealthfully thin, it's just wrong. You get extremes, people going to thin, or strugging to be too thin and ending up on the other end of the spectrum.

I just have a problem with the female fashion industry in general. They design clothes to fit a size 6, when more than 60% of all women are size 12 and over. Thanks to better nutrition (aside of the growing problem of obesity, that's a whole different discussion) people are, overall, taller than they used to be with larger frames. I've browsed a few vintage stores, most of the garments were made to fit small framed women under 5'5".

It's particularly unrealistic to strut supermodels, who have a very specific build, and then tell women (the culture) "This is what defines feminine beauty" or "this is what a woman is supposed to be shaped like." It's just not realistic. Young women don't think about the concept of Ectomorph versus Endomorph versus Mesomorph, and they sure as hell aren't thinking about how much the Vogue and Cosmo models are photochopped.

It seems like all you see anymore is people who are either underweight or overweight, nobody looks NORMAL anymore :worried:

I didn't freak out like "OMG I'M FAT" freak out. Because I'm not, and nowhere close to it (obviously, if I was fitting into kids clothes). I freaked out like, they fucked with women's sizing so much that now THIS is a size 12???

The store had child size 12, 14, and then adult sizes 00, 0, and up.
