Saw Bowling For Columbine My Thoughts on Gun Control and the Media

It was a decent documentry. I think M. Moore is kinda of a fat slob and slouchy dresser. He made some good points and he made some dumb ones. I think Charlton Heston screwed up on the interview with him. He could have handled it better especially when he showed him the pic of the little girl that was killed. But what I thought was interesting was that Canada has guns to like us but they don't have the gun murders. I think part of the problem just like Heston said was ethniticity(sp) People still care about what color people are and that is a problem.

But I think the main problem is the media. We should blame the news channels for the crime in this country and sue the hell out of them. Because they do stew in Fear and bad news just like dude from the Eagles sang about in the song "Dirty Laundry". Maybe we should just use our guns and shoot all the anchor dudes and dudettes and the reporters. I think that would fix our problems. Or if they don't want to be shot stop reporting such bad news for stupid ratings. It is their choice then good news or bullets.

Thoughts?

I can't think of a better way to cut down on gun violence than to go out and shoot unarmed people in anger.

Uh, yeah.

But you see the news media is and their irrespondsible reporting of crime stories is what is breeding so much fear in this country. I mean when you watch the news you feel like it is war zone on our streets and that is not the case. One of the stats was that crime decreased 20% in one town yet the stories on violent crime on the 10 oclock news rose 400%. In Canada most of those people don't even lock their doors.

It is sad where things are going, but that's what gets viewers. You go see a movie, you want to see a perfect, peaceful movie about how good it could be? Or do you want something that'll shock you a bit? When I watch the news, I want to see what's going on good or bad. I don't want an hour of kindergarten parades and old peoples' birthdays. I want to know how many soldiers have been killed in Iraq, and that Osama has been put on the back burner. If they didn't report that I would look at it as irresponsible. That being said, they do seem to circle like vultures waiting to feast upon any death or violence.

IMO, MM made a fool of himself with the Heston interview.

Also, the part about how hard things are in Michigan and all that crap.

I recall growing up. My mother left for work well before I got out of bed. She got home around 7 PM, cooked for us, cleaned for us and gave us the affection that a mother should.

She did it five days a week and then busted her ass cleaning the house/yard and keeping the family together.

Now MM says that's not fair cause because people are expected to have money handed to them.

Not where I come from, you bust your ass to get somewhere in life.
