Does this do any good after a workout...

Always felt like it might bring more blood to the skin/muscles....

Maybe burn a few extra calories, etc....

(sorry if this is in the wrong place...please move if needed...)

I don't really know. But I would say it does very little if anything. It probably loosens up the muscles a bit.

It feels like a sauna here daily anyway...

I'd stay away from it...anything that dehydrates you can't be good for muscle growth (muscle is 70+% water?).

I love to swim in the sea after training...and the next day too:)

Just the opposite... little known fact... saunas help release GH.

No way.

I think it may be a little known fact because it's not true. Now I'll leave open the possibility that it is, but I would really have to see the science on that one to even consider it.

I mean, if higher temps caused the body to produce more GH, then everyone in the middle east and south america would be huge. That just isn't the case.

:)

Guess where I live?

:)

Okay, it's a given that living in a warmer, humid region won't inhibit GH production, or keep you from getting big. I'm just saying that a sauna isn't going to give you much benifit. If anything, it's going to dehydrate your muscles, which I think most of us can agree is a bad thing. I don't think any benifit you get from it (and I'm sure there are benifts-- mostly skin related I'm sure) don't outweigh the negatives.

at the same time gh is released during the high heat exposure your cortisol level is massivly increased as well.

We made the same points man...I had a smile on my face.

I'm always the strongest here in February...our wettest and coldest month of the year. I think it rained 3x this year.

It is hard to get bigger here, especially with the heat. It was near 130 in April here..I don't want to know now. Hard to eat when it is hot all the time, and our A/C doesn't work. I don't have electricity or water in my gym either.

Also you are right, it is a constant fight for hydration. When I lived in KY, USA I could get a little dehydrated and be fine in a day or less. If I notice here that I'm dehydrated it can take 3-4 days for me to properly rehydrate (although that could go hand in hand with MY health issues).

My Russian workout partner swears by the Sauna and Hot Tub the day after leg training though. He has beaten me in a Strongman contest in a Squat event...so I can't argue too much with him.

You know what else...here it is so hot and people believe that using the air conditioning will make you sick. But if it drops below 60 F outside they will all have the heaters turned on HIGH because they don't want to get sick (the heat and A/C come from the same box).
