SARS more dangerous than AIDS...

Africa? Canada?

That would be a no.

I'm more inclined to say that China, Hong Kong and probably indochina/India are going to be seriously hard hit.

I'd puit my money on China being the worst hit.

No doubt, China's gonna get slammed by this. But if it gets into India, man that will be a disaster, it's wall-to-wall people over there. China and India, both over 1e9 population.

They deserve it, they tried to keep this thing a secret from the rest of the world. The US may be arrogant, but China is just plain untrustworthy.

I'm still aghast that they actually came out and admitted it.

Loss of face is a HUGE deal in China.

And it came out of a Politburos members mouth no less!

I agree. SARS is about to kick the shit out of the population of this planet. Spreading like wildfire, mutating, kills rapidly and no cure whatsoever. Not a good combination.

Doc's have been saying for years that this day would come. In fact I remember reading an article in Time or something like that way back about a Superbug that will some day appear. Well, this is a superbug alright.

And has anyone been keeping track of the number of deaths compared to the number of cases? lol It's a lot more than 3 to 4%, I'll tell you that.

Stop with the doomsayers shit. This is so reminiscent of the environmentalist crap that the earth will die from plagues, famine and lack of resources, which have all fallen to the side as hysteria.

This is, as of yet, not even quite a SuperBug, which is a difficult term to pin down, since just because an organism is not killed with a present drug, does not mean that a drug will not be found effective. Of the reports that I have seen mentioned in the media, the largest mortality rate still looks no higher than 10%. Without more information on the patient populations and backgrounds, we don't have any information to determine what groups are more susceptable to this disease or to risk of death from it. The influenza virus kills more each year than this disease, yet I don't see everyone running to the hills to escape the Flu.

People are so fearful and irrational of what they do not understand, so they fail to place it in its proper perspective. Diseases happen, it is a fact of nature. Bacteria and viruses have yet to wipe us out and we have had thousands of years for them to do it. Years later we will most likely place SARS and West Nile in the same perspective that we now place influenza, RSV, and other viral diseases.

You guys need to do a little research on Tuburculosis. It infects over 3700 people in NYC every year alone! It is still rampant but no one seems to remember it.:fro:
