it doesnt cost a thing, the wages wouldve been paid regardless, it just gave them something to do. The cost is inflated for the media and imaginary
On the contrary --
many of these officers got paid overtime
and in addition...
many LEGITIMATE criminal cases were shelfed and put on hold while hers was processed.
Each of those cases has victims. Actual physical human beings who got secondary service due to all of this.
and in addition...
costs such as plane trips, phone calls, hall rentals for media, etc. were incurred.
The costs for her stupidity adds up. The worst of which -- all the media attention that was spent on her, could've been better used on an ACTUAL missing person.
The media can't give front page attention to every missing female. It took a gamble on what it thought was a legitimate serious case -- and it flopped. Yesterday somewhere, another female went missing somewhere another family is distraught -- but she won't any attention. Editors will merely say "Remember what happened LAST TIME we devoted hundreds of hours on some missing woman???".
The public gets annoyed real quick with the same stories. Therefore, it'll be a few months til we hear of another missing woman case. In the meantime -- any missing women will suffer from non-media attention cuz of this bitch.
(even worse danger: some people won't take "missing women" bulletins seriously now either).
