Ruger Mini-30

I have two ruger mini-14's and they are great guns.

The only difference is the caliber(you probably knew that)

The mini 30 is 7.63x39

The mini 14 is .223(there are a few .222's)

Great guns--rolling block action is awesome!!

$400 is average price at the gun show in Texas.

I would have to disagree. the ruger 30 or mini 14 are functional at best. they have been noted to have poor accuracy and very limited as to what upgrades can be done.
There are others out there that could fill your needs better then ruger you have mentioned..

Hi...I've owned several of both. You just have to pin down what you want to use them for. I never got better than 4" groups at 100 yds. with either rifle...and that's scoped from a bench with good factory ammunition.

However, if all you want is a rifle that's fun, cheap, and can spray lots of lead, they are ok. Lots of aftermarkets parts and accessories to add to them.
