rotator cuff question

badfish

New member
like a lot of people that lift, i jacked up my shoulder a few weeks back. have been unable to bench, although i can military press with zero pain and still work my pecs with a pec-deck with zero pain. i want to start strengthening my rotator cuffs now. think we all know the exercises to use, but my question is about frequency as well as how much work per session should be spent on them. anybody know how much and how often you should do those rotator cuff exercises?

depends on how much voplume you do, but geenrally do them whenever you work your upperbody. If you want faster rehab then you work them more often. twice a week is not a bad place to start

even then it will take a while to reverse the problem

I messed up my rot cuff months ago and through talks with doctors, physical therapists, and BBing friends, it is clear that the best way to heal my injury and protect it in the future is to do a ton of rot cuff work. right now I am doing rotator cuff exercises 5 days a week. 5 exercises, 2 sets, high reps (15-20), light weight. this is obviously based on an injury, so I don't think this high volume is needed for genrally stengthening you rot cuff. Once I am back to 100% I plan on throwing in rot cuff exercises twice a week. this is the basic routine and philosophy I follow:
