I can't do anything for my upper body right now. I also play baseball which isn't too good for the rotator cuff. It looks like I'm the DH for the rest of the season. Has anyone here had surgery for their RC? If so, was it worth it and how bad was your RC injury? I only have pain when I lift or throw but it makes this grinding sound when I move it.

I've been resting for 2 weeks. I'm going to try benching light next week. Hope it works out.

Look into Prolotherapy and Active Release, they're both non-invasive methods for tendons, ligaments, joints, etc. that really do work.

Let me know what you find out. My RC is problematic, particualrly with shoulder excercises. When it starts to hurt, I always a back off a bit but pushing it will always make it worse.

well i for one will be starting winter ball and have been playing ball all my life. then main problem with lifting weights and baseball is you must be careful in not developing short muscles.Baseball players mush have long and flexible muscles. NEVER do heavy curls or shoulder excersises. i dont do curls period. if you do all the correct benches you will get plenty of strength from that .if you must do shoulder excersises do VERY light. more reps but light weight. find some surgical tubing and do figure 8's shit like that. rule of thumb is stretch have the time you lift. so if you lift for an hour , stretch for 30 munites. baseball players MUST be flexible. hope that helps

tore

up my shoulder when I was young. No more shoulder presses, only hammer machine for chest and an occasional bench.

I was in denial for years and years(kept trying to bench) and it didn't make things better.

Started working some rotator exercises and things are getting much better. I can put the turn signal on in the car now with no pain and can actually sleep. LOL

I swallowed my pride and started doing close grips last year, I now work out with what strong guys max in the regular bench press. So just swallow that pride and take time, its been 18 months since I started doing things correctly and feel the problem os about 75% resolved. This kind of injury can be very frustrating trust me.

Avoid surgery at all costs unless you can get a doctor that works on pro athletes. Most are butchers and you could end up worse off.

Stretch and do your rotator exercises and lay off for a while.
