Ronnie Coleman & Strongest Man Competition

Ronnie is supposed to be unbelievably strong. That clip is just the tip of the iceberg. He'd have a chance. I would be against him competing due to his steroid use though. I love Strongest man, but strongest AAS induced man - no thanks

Should Ronnie Coleman try out for the "Worlds Strongest Man" Competition? Seems as if he has what it takes... What do you think?

Coleman Short Video...

i think he is a freak and could do well at any strength sport, i doubt he could jump right in and do well, it would take some specific training on the events, but sure a guy that strong would def have a chnce to do well.

A very gray area. Doubt they take 3000mg a week of Deca like BB do while on heavy Bulking cycles, but are they the strongmen clean themselves, well........

Lets just say, I'd prefer Ronnie to stay in BB, but if he swapped over - he'd win Strongman's too

nothing gray about it ALL sports at the top level have drug use, i don't have a problem with it, i jsut thought you were saying he should not go there because he uses and they don't. you will find that exits in every sport weather they test or not, drug testing is jsut window dressing for the uneducated public who think performance enhancing drugs are evil, while they drink, smoke, take pain killers, etc and see nothing wrong with that. im sure you know this, but drug tested does not mean drug free. the nfl tests, do you think they are all clean?? the olympics test, and are are even smart enough to catch a few so it looks like they are doing a good job, its all bs, baseball should have learned from the nfl, they should have put in a test years ago and made it look good and they would not be in the mess they are in now.

A Top Post by a Top Man! My point is that it would be a farce if Ronnie came over. AAS is not only approved in BB, but expected. However, the public and the sponsors wold turn off in droves if this happened in Strongman. People like the idea of someone being "naturally" superstrong.

Maybe you're right about the public perception aspect. If someone doesn't look muscularly freaky then there's little thought given to steroids. Even with the cyrrent monsters of BB you still occasionally hear people suggesting that they probably take steroids. Probably! The general man in the street has no idea. The general gymgoer has no idea.

The very top strongmen weigh between 130 and 170 Kg. (285 - 375 lbs)

One thing I was thinking about the other day: what about the likes of Louis Cyr and other 19th century strongmen? These were seriously strong men even by today's drug-assisted standards. What would they have used to develop such power that we've lost over the years?

strong men clean LMAO MARIUS is not clean that guy is a freak!!!

yes he is a freak, and he looks like a bb'er too! he got busted on a drug test this year too, but im not sure if it was aas, but he failed for something.

I'd read it was for stimulants. He'd done two or three competitions back-to-back and was doubtless running on willpower.

I think the guy is an awesome athlete. I'd read he typically competes at about 5% BF.

Arent the strongemen also supposed to be clean? I mean pudzianowski was recently caught for using roids... ? And i know Ronnie isnt natural. lol

he failed a test at the last wsm, and forfieited his placing, but i don't think it was for aas, i read somewhere what it was but i forgot, but im 99 % positive is was for something other than aas.

In my opinion Ronnie would not do very well at strongman comps. First off he is a little on the short side at 5'9" whereas the average strongman is 6'-6'2". I am 6'2" and it isn't uncommon for me to be the shortest guy at a comp. Secondly he wouldn't have the functional strength to compete. This has been a failing of American strongmen for years, they are weight strong but not funtionally strong in off balance movements. Thirdly he isn't very mobile and that is a must in the new strongman comps as half of it is running around carrying things. Like most of the guys on that amount of AAS he breaks a sweat standing still. Even Pudianowski who is a monster isn't anywhere near as big musclewise as Ronnie plus is four inches taller and weighs less. There is some carry over from powerlifting to strongman but not a huge amount. Just being strong is helpful but not everything, it takes a lot of practice and total focus to be a pro. Lastly Ronnie is getting a bit old to be switching sports especially to one that is super tough on your body like strongman.

Cheers,
Scotsman

Hey relax! I did not realize someone else had this avatar. I had gotten it at some avatar database on the net and thought it was cool.

Well, some good points there. Maybe if they'd caught Ronnie earlier in his career......

Scotsman is right. While Ronnie is gym strong he is too short for strongman comp. He wouldnt get his arms around objects like the larger atlas stones and lift them on to the barrels. He would struggle on the throwing events as well. He would do well on partial deadlift as you can use straps. The strongman guys are full of drugs as well. Jon Paul Sigmarrson died quite young from heart failure. There have been a few more who have just disappeared. Pudz would have been using a stimulant and a masking agent which would give a positive. Have you seen how big Juako Ahola is now. I read an article how WSM guys use to train then get on a drip etc to put electrolites and anything extra back into their systems.
