why do people get married.
for me, marriage is just the church & state saying 'we recognize that you are married'. all it does is give the government the right to control your life.
for example, if things aren't going right, the gov decides if you can split up, and if/when you can see your kids & sig. other afterwards. why go through that just to be considered valid in the eyes of the church & state. it just seems like something to avoid. to have an authority figure say 'we will recognize your union, but you have to let us determine if/when you can see your family'. is this socialization, the willingness to give up freedoms to be recognized as valid by authority figures
