Rice cakes good carbs?

they are high GI carbs

OK as for your post workout carbs (for the insulin spike)
 
rice cakes are one of the worst foods to eat. they stimulate the fat storing enzyme lipoprotein lipase. rice cakes are total garbage.

STAY AWAY FROM THEM !!!!
 
they have the highest GI levels but I cant see themn being that bad if you eat 1-2.. I mean whats 7 calories once in awhile?

How bad is 7 measly calories? Maybe if you eat the whole bag.than you will have to deal with 70calories !!!!

Most bodybuilders from the past used to munch on these things. Hell at such a low calorie content they are great at a snack.
 
see my post above...there are MANY other biological factors that can cause fat storage, the GI/GR of carbs is only part of the picture. there are many foods that cause the stimulation of fat storing enzymes like LPL.

STAY AWAY FROM RICE CAKES !!!!
 
what is the mechanism behind the stimulation of lipase by rice cakes FF.

I find this interesting cause i use ricecakes as a source of high GI carbs on my refeed days
 
I dont see how eating a few rice cakes is going to have your body signaling to store fat if your in a calorie deficit or maintence.

I just dont understancd how this could possibly happen. As far as rice cakes being good carbs, their are better choices but depending on when you consume them and if your dieting or not i dont see how a few will hurt you.

The caramal, apple cinnamon and peanut butter ones are damn good too. I also used them when refeeding.
 
i dont see why rice cakes would have a bigger effect on lipase then any other simple carb, thats why im asking for input from FF
 
Lipoprotien Lipase (LPL) is the fundamental enzyme in the regulation of lipoprotein and lipid metabolism. In women (fat cells in the breast, hips and thighs produce LPL) estrogen regulates the activity of LPL while in men testosterone regulates LPL wherein addominal tissue in men prduces LPL.

LPL hydrolyzes plasma triglycerides into free form fatty acids (FFA's) and glycerol where it works for the uptake of plasma triglyceride by the tissue. Adipose tissue LPL permits uptake of plasma triglyceride as storage in fat cells while muscle LPL utilizes plasma triglycerides as fuel for muscle.

As one gets older and Hgh lowers naturally LPL levels rise. which is why it gets harder to stay lean and keep bodyfat off as one ages.

For you younger guys using rice cakes as a carbs source is not that big of an issue but it's just someting to remember as your get older you wil have to cut them out of your diet.
