Rice and beans cooked w/ ham.

Oh yeah. We got a friggin' institutional pot full of the stuff, my roommate and I. It tastes good, but man are we going to peel the paint off the walls! Beans and rice for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

It's gonna stink.

;)

My wife makes up chili for 10, but I'm the only one to eat it. It sure is a long week for my coworkers.

Chili is probably my favorite dish.

I had a shitload of homemade chili with jalapeno cornbread day before yesterday. My fucking bedroom smelled like a match factory that whole night.

lol

you guys sound both like myself. I'll cook something that will last me 3 days and eat it for every meal.

This time around it's x-lean ground beef mixed with brown rice and topped with low fat cheddar cheese and low-sodium salsa.

jalapeno cornbread ???

That sounds good! You have the recipe?

Hmmm...I didn't make it, but I've had it about a thousand times at various places so I'm sure it's not that hard. Hell, you probably just throw some chunked jalapenos in the cornbread batter. :D

You're right!

1 1/4 cups yellow corn meal
1 1/4 cup flour
1 level Tbs. Baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. paprika
1 tsp. sugar
1 well-beaten egg
2/3 cup milk
1/2 cup evaporated milk
1/4 cup shortening
One 15-ounce can cream-style corn
4 Tbs. butter
2 Tbs. chopped onion
3 Jalapeno Chiles, chopped or diced
4-ounce can chopped green chiles
3 tbs. chopped pimento
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Mix corn meal, flour, baking powder, salt, sugar and paprika in a large mixing bowl. Combine egg, milk, shortening and corn. Add to dry ingredients.
In a saucepan, melt butter and saute onions, chiles and pimento until onions until tender. Add this to the rest of the mixture. Mix well, but don't over do it. Add cheese and blend in. Butter an 8-inch square pan and pour mixture in.
Heat oven to 400* and bake for 35 minutes. Cool, then cut into serving pieces

LOL...my mother would save the bone from a ham and cook it in a big ass pot of beans. I haven't thought of that in forever......

God it was good....with cornbread. mmm mmm

red beans and rice is big time here in new orleans, esp. on mondays, osorta like chicken fried steak in texas or philly cheese hoagies in philladelphia.

good fiber, high protien, low fat, if cooked correctly.

as for gas, try some beano.

I probably should see about the Beano. Damn, I'm farting up a storm. It's going to be fun strafing the crowd tonight at the bar. :D

start at a "low and slow" flame level, baist liberally ............., gradually raise the flame and intensity level until warm, juicy and pink in the middle, add the warmed up smuckers into the container, stir gently but boldly with the afore mentioned item.............spelling out my name as you scream it out loud to me............wanna dive in here after me, cas?

I'm speachless...that sounds like quite a recipe. Delicious!!!
thank ya, dawlin'..........and what are YOU serving up for dessert?

I thought I was just gonna learn from you but maybe I'll give it a shot...

Let me see what I have in my pantry and I'll be back.

No messy kitchen here...I even cleaned the grill outside today.

Desert: Drambui and honey body paint...fill a shotglass with equal parts and spread on naked bodies using your fingers, then use tongues to clean up the mess.

One problem though...I only have Drambui...
