Reverse Hypers

Hey everone, just a quick question.

My gym isn't blessed with a reverse hyper machine-i have been immitating them using a standard hyper bench resting on boxes, lying facing the other way.

I use dumbells held inbetween my ankles for weight.

Does anyone here do this? Do people think this is worthwhile or is it too far removed from "proper r/hpers".

Also what sort of weights should i be aiming at given that i squat 400 and deadlift 500.
Thanks in advance.

welcome to the board duderino. where have i seen you before:) lol. you already know what i feel about them. so bump for others.
i know spatts does a modified reverse hyper.

Same problem here...my gym isn't equipped so we have to fudge it with db's too. I figure, something is better than nothing...provided you are executing them properly.

i do the same thing.
but on an old asss hyperextension set up.

i use 50 lb dumbell for like 15 reps, but i squat more, and deadlift less than you

Are reverse hypers that much better than regular hypers that it's worth jerry-rigging something up like that? Wouldn't doing regular hypers holding weight to your chest be the same thing pretty much?

Nope...doesn't work the same way at all...

Here is how I do mine...

I was just going to say I lay a couple 2x6's in my power cage, but B fold beat me to it. I've had trouble using the band with that setup. I'm going to try those again soon.

You have to keep the band tight on your socks. It feels different, but works different too.

good to see i'm not the only one then, i like your set up b fold.
I think i will continue to do them in this improvised fashion for now (but i take what yo say on board liftbig).

i prefer to do hyper ext with weight and just rev bodyweight hypers for recovery reasons.
