Regular workout or go for a PR?

dunno what to do today. last time i went for a deadlift PR, i pulled 295x3 and 305x1. i worked 215 for 5x5 the week before. that was in the end of April.

last week i worked 245 5x5.

so what to do?

btw, if i go for a deadlift PR today, that means i have to go for a squat PR tomorrow (or i could re-arrange the schedule and go for a squat PR thursday).

oh yeah, i'm taking next week off from the gym because i have no classes and it's going to be difficult to get to the gym with the kids home. fall semeseter starts the week after that so i'll be back in the gym 5 days/week.

Regular workout but up everything by 15 pnds.

I don't know, Cleetus, when was the last time you went for a PR? How long ago? PR's are good for a mental boost, but don't do much for overall development, I find. But then again, I don't work out.

i'd continue with regular workout and forgo the PR...

Will be deadlifting the 3rd time ever this week.....last 2 times finished with 315 x 6 reps for 2 sets....sure like doing them now...last time was like 10 yrs ago in college and maxed out at 405.....figure 50 lbs heavier now and should get it relatively easy after a month or two....

Wodin - i dunno about upping everything by 15 lbs. that'd probably mean a failed 4th set on seated ohp and the 3rd set would be run to failure and not completed.

KillahBee - last PR was the end of April.

gtrcivic - i didn't start deadlifting until January and only been lifting a year anyway. i'm actually enjoying the progress i've been making...just 5lbs/week. works up pretty fast really. keep killing it! i'm hoping to be around 375 for a PR myself by the end of the year.

Bile - no.

i've got the digital with me just in case. would be nice to get a PR on video.

crak...
what are you thinking boy?
don't go for a squat pr the day after a deadlift pr!
do one today, take the week off, and go for the other next week.
Most people take a week off before a strength competition anyway- gives your body a chance to rest and you won't lose strength in one week.

for the past 2 1/2 months, i've been box squatting monday, deadlifting tuesday, and squatting wednesday. screwed up schedule, but it's what i had to do for the summer.

i'm starting to lean against going for a PR today. dunno why though. i'm thinking i can get 345, but it might be better to wait til december to give it a go, but i should be able to do even more then.

decisions decisions.

no PR attempts today, so no pics or video. sorry if anyone was looking foreward to seeing some. i think it's going to be best to wait another 4 months anyway.

BA - thank you.
