Had a GREAT work-out yesterday. I could really concentrate and I was pretty proud. I did 130 pounds for 4 reps on the Hammer Incline Chest Press!
Today is leg day 2 at the gym. I did 30 min a.m. cardio.
Story about my first day as a trainer (If you care to read)
I had my first client yesterday (6'4", 240 pounds, works out 5 days a week, intimidating). I wasn't supposed to train anyone either. I was supposed to train with my manager and he just kinda said. "O.k. here take this guy." So Yeah he fed me to the wolves.... So anyway I got done with him and the general manager came up to me and said,"Did that guy buy a package from you?" I said,"Well he said he had to go home and check his bills he just got a speeding ticket!" So then I find out the guy planned on cancelling his membership and he was just coming in for a training session so that he could cancel it (part of the original agreement). So anyway to make a long story short they threw me out there to see if I would sink or swim and I swam :) They had never done that to any other trainer either. It was funny because all the other trainers kept asking me if that was my first client? That they couldn't even tell because I kicked the guys butt (sweating BAD), and then the girl trainers kept telling me the guy was HOT. I guess when I look at people as a professional I want to help them, I don't look at them as if they are attractive or not. I just said, "Really?" My boss said I will be a legend to start up like I did, save a package deal, and sell training. You know... everyone is interested in sales.. I knew nothing about him cancelling, my whole goal is to help people live their life to the fullest, and unfortunately it will cost them some money in return but the reward is priceless :) The guy had a lot of shoulder issues and I was talking to him about massage and training together. So he seemed more interested in massage. In the long run if I can help him in any way I feel I have done my part. I also have another client saturday, and one on monday. I went home last night and I could hardly sleep I was just happy to help people and train.

A very good start! Congrats! (seems a little late)
"You must spread some Karma around before giving it to treilin again"
What should I do to give karma to u again? I don't quite catch these words.

treilin said:
I also trained another guy yesterday who told me it was the hardest work-out he ever had. I almost made him pass out twice. Not my fault... The guy only ate an apple 2 HOURS before showing up.

ONE apple? OMG, he is lucky to pass out only twice. If I were him, I may pass out before work-out. :worried:

My grandmother had a quad bipass a couple of years ago - at 71! She made it thru the surgery ok and was looking great and on the 3rd night she got worse. The 2nd and/or 3rd days after this surgery seems to be the down point and then they come back up and pull thru. I've had 3 grandparents go thru this - and they are all still kickin'. The point of my rambling......she may go thru the same thing, so be prepaired - but STAY POSITIVE!
Thanks for the notice... Won't let me give you karma either

Nor anyone else! Karma is not going so well!!

You all get Karma...

It's SO good to hear that you mom is doing well. Let us know how she is today as well.

How are you feeling? How is your dad now? And nice job on sticking to the diet! :verygood:

Hey Treilin,Awesome!
First, I want to say thank u for such a good thread!
I have one question. My mom is overweight and I am worried about her health. She is 52 years old, 5'3''and 170lbs.Her only exercise is morning walk for 30min. Could you give me some advice on how to help my mom to lose some fat? Thank you!
Well My mom is 53, 5'3, about 190... She was about 220-225 at her heaviest.
She 'was' very unmotivated to move... I am really hoping that this will spark a new interest in it, and for her to realize she has a second chance and she needs to make the most of it now!
She lost the previous weight when I was living with her. As soon as I moved out... well she went back to the way she used to be. I can't live with her!!!
I mean I can help motivate people, and put programs together but they have to want it. Believe me of anyone existing in this world I would rather help my mom then anyone! I may just have to take a day a week and drive to her house to work with her on a strength training and a fat loss program. Help motivate her and help to take her past plateaus when she thinks she can't do any more. I would rather do that and I guess if the gym doesn't understand me dropping my hours there well... oh well.

You just can't give up trying to motivate people!
As far as your mom on losing fat... buy her some light dumbells, show her some strength training exercises she can do on the couch even or on the floor while she watched t.v.... I would also help her with her diet. Diet is the key. It's really good she does walk!! Make sure you praise her on her walking habits but tell her she should add in strength training to help prevent and deter osteoporosis, rev up her metabolism to burn fat, help put a stop too heart conditions or bodily diseases, and prevent injury.

You just have to keep on trying!

:) I just spoke with my dad. They took the breathing tube out and she is talking now. He said she is doing really good. I can tell he is pretty tired and drained himself.
As far as me I overslept my alarm clock this morning but I did my 40 minutes a.m. cardio and came into work. I couldn't quit crying yesterday. I got home and I was an emotional basket case  It wasn't even just about my mom... I just kept crying over stupid stuff. I can tell next week is "the week"

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

APR 28 2006
weight 147.8
Bloated still.. Fun stuff
A.m. cardio 40 minutes, 15 minutes stretching
Quads, calves this evening for weights
Starting to notice a decrease in weights at the gym. Also, beginning to see a slight decrease in energy. Appetite has been fine. I haven't been hungry. I have been taking 1 TREX at lunch now, and 2CB about 30 minutes before the gym.
I may up the CB to 1 in the morning again. I was just kinda cycling it and only using it when I was feeling pretty tired. Having issues with going to sleep. I haven't fallen asleep until about 11:00p the past 2 nights. I'm still getting up around 5:15a, despite yesterday's 6:30 when I forgot to set the alarm clock. May be a consideration as to why my energy levels have fallen some!
Anyway I hope everyone has a great friday :)

++ Mom is doing really good. They had her up walking yesterday and eating foods!!!! :)

I dunno about the whole square jaw thing. I kinda like my chin and jawline the way they are... I also don't think a raspy voice would sound too hot coming from me!! :)
Boyyyyy I have been soooo hungry today I took another TREX at dinner. Stupid me forgot to measure one of my meals right and so I only got half of what I was supposed too!! Ayeyeyeeeee
I had a few guys circling me tonight at the gym waiting for the eye contact to talk to me..... NEGATIVE ghost writer!
I had a hard enough time focusing on the work-out without getting interrupted!
We should meet up one of these days GG... I mean we don't live that far from each other. I can't drink or go out to eat... But I can still dance if you like to dance :)

LOLOLOL...or that you have to look at her a couple times to tell if she is a female or not

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

April 30
weight 146.6 (still feel bloated)
I wasn't too hungry yesterday. Although motivation for doing my shoulders was not there either.... I must have killed them though because today they are really sore.
This next week he is dropping my oatmeal some more :( And adding more chicken! YUMMMMMMM

++ Mom Update = Yesterday she was not doing so hot. Like I was warned about (scorpio) Thanks. She is going into Congestive heart failure right now. She looked really bloated and her bodily fluid output is minimal. So they have her on a diuretic, and are watching every fluid she takes in. She is on the full mask O2 vetilation system, becuase she can't hardly breathe without it. They said if she didn't drop some water last night that they were going to have to take a needle through her back and drain about a liter of fluid that way. The nurse said most people feel much better after that.
It was definitely a rough day for her. Of course me trying to make people laugh.... I'm trying to lighten the mood for her but not wanting to make her laugh too hard.
I was just making fun of her mask and saying stuff about Luke Skywalker. She just kept saying I don't want to die yesterday and broke down crying quite a few times.
I did some foot reflexology on her that I was taught in school so hopefully that will help with the lymph drainage, and I spent extra time on her lungs, kidneys, and of course heart. Anyway praying away over her :rose:

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

Aww thats so sad to hear about your mom :( Ya'll will both be in my prayers!!! But keep up the great work on that training!! You're doing great! ;)

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

Treil ... i am so very sorry ... stay strong & breaking down does not in any way mean you are weak... get it out ... :rose:

And Bunny is right...don't hold it in.

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

Weight 148.8
Trainer is going to start doing my Body fat weekly beginning this friday
A.m. cardio 40 minutes
Evening hams, calves, glutes
P.m. cardio 10 minutes

I started taking 1 TREX twice a day, with M1 and M5
No CB this A.M. and I did fine
I will be taking 2 before weights though.

Yeahhhhh I definitely love sex but I tell you... It's got it's place and purpose and that is not with everyone. If I'm not in a relationship with someone then it's just raw and I feel like blehhhh afterwards. That's why I refuse to have it unless I'm serious with someone. Then I will take the extra time and effort in making it out of this world. It's too mental for me to just go do somebody because it really messes with my head. I have to draw the line.... But when it's with someone you love and the feeling is mutual it's awesome!!! Unfortunately it's been lacking for about 2.5 years.

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

I SO understand you. I can't do the hookup things anymore. You just get to a point where, once it's over, you're scratching your head and wondering...what was the point?

What in the world is wrong with the guys in MI? Are they looney or something? Have you heard from Mr Date Man that you went out with a couple of weeks ago?

Yeah I went on a few dates with date man. My friend who is also a massage therapist at the school is trying to hook me up with some guy she works on. So I get a phonecall last night from that guy. He plays hockey and I guess lives in the gym like me. It's funny because every time Igo into the school those women are always trying to hook me up with one of their clients. I've gone on a few dates because of them giving my phone number out! Some guy I hadn't talked with in like 3 weeks also called me this past weekend. Kinda preoccupied with my mom lately. I don't have time to be cycling men around. I just would like to find one and date one. Unfortunately it takes time to build up to get to know someone before I would even attempt a relationship. Been cheated on one to many times. I would rather just be single until he shows up on my doorstep :)
Funny about your date though!!! He didn't want to pay, and wanted to just jump into a relationship... I think I would show him the door.

Ehhh I figure why not... Believe me it's only one evening. If the guy is a jerk I never have to see him again. I figure they are all learning exepriences. I try and find something good in it, even if it sucks. I mean I had one horrible date that argued with me about diet and training and then I learned... well I have to have someone that agrees with me on dieting because that just did not go well. Sooo It's not like I'm marrying them, or in a relationship, just getting to meet new people.

Actually nope. I don't watch food on t.v., I flip the channel on food commercials, and and I only started dreaming about food since I've been dieting. My life doesn't and at the same time does revolve around food. It's thought of as fuel and energy not enjoyment or an emotional suppresant.

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

Boston Cream Cake is even better! Back in my fat days I almost ate an entire cake one night! And you know what I felt great afterwards (physically) lol, however I always lie to myself and remind myself "how horrible I felt". I "remember" the stomachaches overeating caused, when in fact it felt great, the only problem was how you feel emotionally and mentally when you look in the mirror the next day!

If I did that I would avoid the mirror at all costs...... The feeling alone would be enough to make me want to vomit.. let alone looking at myself after indulging in one!

That's the one thing that keeps me from eating what I cook. When I get stressed, I cook. I baked so much last week that it's a shame. I just gave it all away!

Awesome relationship to have with food, though. Have you always been that way?

Yeah I love to cook and bring stuff to work. Mostly making desserts.
I haven't always thought of it that way.... Before I would actually enjoy it... but with the body building diet... Well it's not really that much of a palatable gratification any more.

Well I don't know about that... Friggin someone's client last week baked M&M cookies and brought them in for all of us. Then my boss there comes up and says,"Here have a cookie." laughing because he knows I can't have one. They were going up to Staci (the other girl competitor) saying the same thing. She just kept sayin,"Stop!" I was just like I don't want any.

weight 146.6 (still feel bloated)

When my Grandmother had her surgery, she grabbed my mom's arm and said "I'm not gonna' die am I?".......I think that's pretty normal....she'll pull out of it. For some reason....that 2nd - 3rd day are a real pain! I don't know why the docs don't warn families about it. It gets everyone all freaked out, when it's a normal part of recovery.

Yeah! They had to put her under again and restart her heart yesterday.
I did another reflexology treatment on her. She dropped quite a bit of water after the first one, and then about an hour after I was doen with the second one she had to go to the bathroom again. So... I hope maybe it's helping.
She didn't look as swelled up yesterday. Just keeping the fingers crossed!

Well I don't know about that...
After big holidays, my gym will have freebies. After New Years, there were litte bottles of alcohol for taking on a big table near the entrance. I've told one of the girls at the front desk to NEVER eat popcorn again because it's just brutal to have that smell wafting through the air.

It really boggles my mind how people who work at the gym and go to the gym won't eat right. Sure, a cheat is cool but I'm talking eating like crap on a daily!

The just started selling beer again at the cafe at my old gym :) And Home Run Inn Pizza :) lol .. healthy stuff too, more for kids, but the kids are limited to the 'day care' area or tennis courts ... One is a TCA ... really No kids allowed at all there :)

They have outings, tastings & events all the time ... "Come on try some ... you could use it, you're going to burn it off anyway..." Not the POINT people

Thanks bunny, I am so glad to hear about your friend! My sister had that and it is really really painful, I hope she feels better soon. How is the new job?
Th new job is going... I think I'm getting more massage clients then I am personal training clients. I figure ohhh well. My personal training with my own trainer dropped to a 1/3 of the cost, and I get paid to do some chair massage and stuff. I figure if it's not all it's cracked up to be I'll retire from it maybe in July when I won't need my trainer because he is leaving anyway...
We'll see. I keep getting people who are not motivated to do anything and everything you tell them to do they want to whine and complain... I just want to hit them over the head with a weight!
So how are you doing?

Crack that whip and throw a ball on their stomach to shut them up! hee hee.
Everything is coming into place here, start going back to the gym tomorrow. Most of the boxes are unpacked. Are you retiring from your trainer, the massage or training yourself?

Congrats on getting settled in!
If I retire from anything it would be training people. We'll see how it goes. I'm not saying I am... but we'll see how things go between now and competition time....

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

May 2nd 2006
weight 148.6 (any day now)
My trainer says he can see I'm losing weight and my clothes are big... Just waiting on BF testing this friday, well and other things for my body to get over!
Legs yesterday went pretty well. Trainer was walking by and said,"Did someone forget to tell you you are in precomp, and you are not supposed to get stronger?!?!" He was saying that because I hit a new max on my calf raises = 405
It was funny quite a few guys were staring at me when I have that much weight on my shoulders and that I can actually move that much weight.
I was feeling some hunger pains yesterday. I took only 1 trex I forgot the second one.
I did 40 minutes a.m. cardio with 1 CB this morning. After about 30 minutes I got a twinge of nausea. Tonight is back. I'm going to tear it up!!! I'm feeling pretty dang good today!!!
I have a few clients this evening also. Hopefully someone I can tear up! Muhaaaa
I hope everyone has a great work-out today!!!! Kill it!

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

Morning, Treil!

405 on the calf raise! :eek2: NICE!

Training unmotivated people sounds very frustrating, especially considering how motivated you are. You should get a taser...and shock their whiney butts when they start behaving like babies.

It would seem that they would see your progress and get even more motivated...

Yeah but I can't go much higher in weight because I think the step that I use will cave in, It was caving in about 2 inches. I need to get a wood step or something harder. Steps aren't made for 550 pounds of force on them I suppose.

Yeah They need a good kick in the arse!

And it's holding 405 lbs! :eek2: I didn't think it would hold that much!

Have you tried stacking a few plates under your toes?
Well I figured it's not my step :)
Yeah the only thing about stacking plates is if they slip with that much weight I'm a little worried. I mean I have the safety bars on but I think I need a SUPER stable surface.

NICE!

Same thing I say about the cardio equipment. As much as they charge me for a membership, I am going to run on those things until they break.

Gyms need people like us to tear up the equipment!

Not to bring this whole conversation up again, but I got busy and couldn't partake when it was acutally going on......

I won't date someone who can't satisfy me. That is one thing I ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT go without!!! :lmao:

Question.....all this sex talk has me getting all BOTHERED!!! I was thinking of asking my ex (we still talk on a daily basis, but don't have "that" kind of relationship anymore) if I could "use" him. He still want's to be a couple though, and I don't. I gotta' get some - lol - I don't want it to be "some strange" though. What do you think? Ask him....or leave it alone?

Hmmmm...

Well, if he understands that you don't want to be with him and he agrees and is willing to accept the relationship then I say go for it. If not, you could get yourself in a nasty web of emotions with him.

Morning, Treil! How's Superwoman doing this AM? How's your mom?

Nope I would stay far away from that! I mean you start sleeping with him and he wants a relationship and you don't he will think that will bring you guys closer and that he will win you back. To many emotions involved if you ask me... but that's just me. Every time you have sex you give a piece of yourself and soon after giving away all your pieces you are left with nothing. You have to preserve yourself mentally, physically, and emotionally. You may think well we were already together, but more then you know is involved when you go doing that. You have to learn how to make it alone. I'm not saying it's easy because believe me it's not.... At the same time it helps reestablish who you are and how strong you are on your own. Sex is for those in serious relationships better yet married. Again this is just my opinion and I know what it's like on both sides of the coin on this one. Being used for sex, and using others for sex (I know) is neither healthy or safe.

Man I feel like a truck hit me today. I didn't get home till 11:15 last night. Worked here, then I did weights, worked again, cardio, then I had posing practice. Kinda tired today... No superwoman... Sleepywoman more like it!
How about you?

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

MAY 3rd 2006
weight 146.2
TIRED
A.m. cardio 40 minutes, stretching 10 minutes
No weights this evening, but I have to mow the lawn. I was asked to go salsa dancing saturday night but... I don't know if I have the energy for everything I have to get done and that. I still haven't put any time into studying for my PT cert... I really need to do that.
Also, I've been hungry now the past two days. Started feeling sick towards the end of my cardio. I didn't take a CB either... just hungry.
Now I'm savoring my oatmeal.... YUmmmmmmmmyyyyyyy
My trainer said he can see a noticeable difference in my body and thanks I am coming along nicely. I think it's pretty funny because he is training his girlfriend for a figure competition. This is either going to make them or break them!!!!! She is pretty head strong and snappy when she gets tired or things don't go her way.
Soooo we'll see about that one.
Anyway beginning work I'll get to everyone's log in a bit.
