Yeah I get kinda bored watching drunks though. It's kinda not my cup of tea. The whole thing is getting kinda old to me!
I'll def let ya know about the test results! Hope all is well on your end!

Re: NEW Treilin Log

I know what you mean about the going out scene getting old. I never party anymore. I used to be a HUGE partyer in college, but...that wore out quickly after I got into the real world.

Are you going to post workouts and diets for prep or does your trainer not want you to do that?

If you are talking about post show he is putting something together for me. He won't leave me hanging..

No he doesn't require me to log. He pretty mcuh puts togetehr the diet and I pretty much have to follow it to a T. He trusts that I will follow it, and he will adjust it as he sees fit. I will and always do log my weights and reps though.

Re: NEW Treilin Log

So it's hillarious I was messing around on one of my blogs and I was doing random searches and I found my first boyfriend's (10 year's ago) blog. SOOOOO wierd! He looks like a blimp now and has tatoos all over, and is a total biker, satanic wierdo!!!
I'm like man... how the times have changed!

It's crazy because I don't want to be non-social but it's a good intro to what I'm going to be dealing with anyway. Not that I don't deal with the socializing issues already in what I do.
So still no info back from the trainer. Anyway. I go to the docs this evening to get my blood test results back from a few weeks ago. My body seems to be stabalizing because I had my long lost friend a week ago. So I think a combo of factors have worked. One is hormone free meat, two is supplementing with DMAE, and three is no more school (although I still have plenty of stress!) That's the only things that have changed.

Good luck at the docs!

:lmao: We have one for sexual predators here. I found one of my classmates who had a run in with the law on that one.

Treil, thought I'd post here instead of my journal. Anyway...

It looks like you were doing 2x per part due to the plyos. I noticed that you said that your legs were strong, but they won't grow. What does your trainer think about your proportions? Or do you think that you're pretty balanced now?

No my upper body still looks like it overshadows the lower portion. It is technicallly legs 2X a week, but the plyos were focused on legs and they were not regular plyos. It was not a constant exercise, more like 10 reps back to back, 1 min break. So if I did a jump squat I would land the squat and reposition my body so it was perfect and then jump again.
Then again my upper body seems to hold all the fat also... so I'm not sure how much is going to drop off and how the proportions will change. My trainer originally saw the difference in proportions and that's why he put me on the split he had me on.

:bawling: Me, too. It sucks...legs lean out easily, upperbody. PFFT. I hope that the fat start to come off a little more evenly or else I'll look like a ladybug on stilts.

That's what I meant, legs 2x a week. I guess if I type complete thoughts it makes more sense.

Re: NEW Treilin Log

Hey Treil! I have a friend who is having some issues - possibly - with BC. She's on Ortho Tricyclin (sp - I don't take bc, so I don't know if that's correct) and her doc is suggesting Yasmine - for hair loss. She's also getting blood work done to check her thyroid. Do you have any insight to this subject?

I'm going to e-mail her the link to this thread so she can talk directly to anyone who might be able to shed some light. I thought you would be one of the best people to throw this at.

Thanks, Treil! :)

Well I have been on every BC pill known to man.... I was originally on Orth and it was great in my late teens early 20's. Then the military didn't have that kind and from there it went downhill. Jumping from pill to pill. I was just on Yasmin and it made me have a period 3 weeks out of 4. They tried me again on Ortho and it just didn't work like it used too. Her condition sounds a bit different then mine. I didn't have hair loss. If anything I gained body hair.

I found these articles:
Many people notice rapid hair loss as a symptom of their hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism. When the body is in crisis, the hair cells can shut down to redirect energy elsewhere. The types of situations that can cause hair loss include hormonal changes, poor diet and nutritional deficiencies, a variety of medications, surgery, and many medical conditions, but noticeably, thyroid disease. Some key points for dealing with hair loss include:
Getting evaluated by a dermatologist
Making sure it's not your thyroid drug (it can be a side effect)
Making sure you aren't being undertreated
Consulting with a doctor to see if you have any nutritional deficiencies that can be correct with supplements
Considering alternative treatments

Yasmin is 99% effective in preventing unwanted pregnancy but Yasmin works much differently than the traditional birth control pill. All birth control pills use some form of synthetic hormone, but Yasmin uses a different version of this progestin (hormone). Yasmin affects the body’s chemistry differently it works on excess sodium and water in the body.

ORTHO TRICYCLEN is an excellent choice for an effective birth control solution that not only is 99% effective in preventing pregnancy, but can also help clear up acne as well. In clinical trials ORTHO TRI-CYCLEN has been proven to help reduce acne by lowering the hormone that commonly causes skin blemishes. ORTHO TRI-CYCLEN contain a progestin called norgestimate. Norgestimate has very little androgenic activity and may be less likely to cause unpleasant side effects among its Pill users.
______________________________________________________________

O.k. taken one of two ways to me. That they really think the thyroid is the culprit so changing her to Yasmin changes the hormone from a synthetic progeseterone hormone (more foriegn to the body) to a different type of progesterone hormone (which they don't expand on). Maybe one step in helping to take her body back to homeostasis.

The second is they think the BC is the culprit and that maybe she is on to high of a dose of a certain hormone causing the hair loss.

Personal view:
I would suggest she ask a lot of questions before they go switching the pill!!! If her pill seems to be working as far as everything else then I would be sketchy. I mean it can take months heck years (look at me) to get the cycle back to the way it should be. I would specifically ask why? What will Yasmin do that Ortho doesn't? Besides the obvious listed above. What's it have to do with hair loss? Are they going to treat her from both ends? Meaning if they find that she has a thyroid issue are they going to treat the thyroid and place her on new pills? Seems like they would be changing to many variables at once. They should keep one constant. If the pill was working for me, and the tests came back positive on the thyroid problem I would have them treat my thyroid since if you look above the thyroid is the hair loss culprit. I haven't read anything about pills being the problem to hair loss, nor have I experienced it. Using not just myself almost everyone I know says the pill makes them hairier!!!
If they planned on switching the pill make sure they do the full blood work they see what specific hormone balances she may have. Also... I have read that a "smart doctor" will have the patient come back in at different points in the month and retake blood work to see how the hormone levels fluctuate throughout the month.
Again maybe the Yasmin pill they know something about the hormones in it that work better with thyroid medicine then Ortho. Ask lots of questions before they go flipping pills around. After all you have to live with the consequences THEY DON'T!!!!

Re: NEW Treilin Log

O.k. so test results back from the doctor...
Everything came back normal except my creatinine, and one other thing that had to do with my kidneys. She seemed less concerned about the second one though. After doing research which I will also provide below... I don't understand why she is alarmed by it really. Since I'm obviously lifting weights and creatinine is a by-product from muscle metabolism..... O.k. so what's the concern?? My level was 1.1 which yes is on the high side but... as what I read below doesn't seem abnormal for weight lifters. I'll just have to drink more water maybe.
Her scale went to 1.0, so the test results showed me higher then their max number. Not only that.... Duhh I even told her I had been supplementing creatine and creatinine is produced from creatine.

"Creatinine: A chemical waste molecule that is generated from muscle metabolism. Creatinine is produced from creatine, a molecule of major importance for energy production in muscles. Approximately 2% of the body's creatine is converted to creatinine every day. Creatinine is transported through the bloodstream to the kidneys. The kidneys filter out most of the creatinine and dispose of it in the urine.

Although it is a waste, creatinine serves a vital diagnostic function. Creatinine has been found to be a fairly reliable indicator of kidney function. As the kidneys become impaired the creatinine will rise. Abnormally high levels of creatinine thus warn of possible malfunction or failure of the kidneys, sometimes even before a patient reports any symptoms. It is for this reason that standard blood and urine tests routinely check the amount of creatinine in the blood.

Normal levels of creatinine in the blood are approximately 0.6 to 1.2 milligrams (mg) per deciliter (dl) in adult males and 0.5 to 1.1 milligrams per deciliter in adult females. (In the metric system, a milligram is a unit of weight equal to one-thousandth of a gram, and a deciliter is a unit of volume equal to one-tenth of a liter.) Muscular young or middle-aged adults may have more creatinine in their blood than the norm for the general population. Elderly persons, on the other hand, may have less creatinine in their blood than the norm. Infants have normal levels of about 0.2 or more, depending on their muscle development. A person with only one kidney may have a normal level of about 1.8 or 1.9. Creatinine levels that reach 2.0 or more in babies and 10.0 or more in adults may indicate the need for a dialysis machine to remove wastes from the blood.

Certain drugs can sometimes cause abnormally elevated creatinine levels."

Yeah I was just glad to hear the thyroid which they thought was not good last time, came back normal. Also glad to see my whole hormone panle came back normal.
So far so good! It's Friday!!!!!! ;) Going to Detroit this evening for dinner in greek town and hanging out with some friends. This weekend pretty much is organization weekend... hanging pictures on bathroom mirror and setting out reminders as to what I am doing. Plus getting the food, and supplements organized.
I'm fine right now mentally but I think I may get to a point more then once where I'm going to need that.

Greek food? *drool* My oh my...
Sorry I meant 14 weeks!!! Yeah I had Middle Eastern cuisine last night. I split with a friend: Hummus, Falafel (First time I had this it was just o.k. nothing I would order again, I only had two and I didn't know it was fried till it hit the table), Taboulli (A little to much parsley for me), Lemon peppered chicken on skewers :chomp: , jasmine rice with almonds (had a few bites... I really don't care for any type of white rice any more), some sort of bread with EVO.
Funny because I can't believe people think this stuff is awesome. Since I've been eating clean for quite awhile this food really doesn't do it for me. I went downstairs for lunch and had a tuna on wheat and I could taste every little piece of salt. My taste has definitely became heightened since every thing I eat is normally bland. I felt my blood pressure rising as I bit into that sandwich.
I go out thinking yeah cheat meal... Yeah I would have rather just ate my food at home and saved the $35.

Re: NEW Treilin Log

Wow ladies thanks for keeping my log going today :)
So before I begin I have got permission to anounce my additional motivation for dieting down.
Besides the obvious of doing it for me.... I was in my head donating my competition to my ex-boyfriend's mom (Pam) who died of a very rapid Ovarian cancer a year ago. She found out and 4 months later she had passed on. She was definitely the first motivational woman as far as healthy living beyond the age of 40. She was an aerobics instructor and just a very positive sweet woman. Many know my mom has been sick most of my life and I had the notion that as of the age of 30 your body pretty much falls apart and incapacitates you. Well I asked our own *Bunny* if I could also devote my competition to her and her fight with cancer. She is the second female that has walked into my life and has made a very big impact as to what I think about the power of the mind and body and desire to be healthy. Both of these two woman are a big inspiration to me. So as I diet down the two of them will be in my head... The day's when I don't feel like sticking with it, the nights when I can't fall asleep and dream about food..... They'll be my light to keep moving forward and reaching the goal! Of course it won't end at my competition. Nope.... they'll be in my head the rest of my life through any physical struggle I may go through. So this comp is for you miss Bunny and my long lost friend... Pam!

I had orientation today so I start working on thursday.
CUTTING has officially BEGUN!!!!! I need to get me log name changed to:
Treilin's Competion 2006 log
So far so good... I've actually not been all that hungry today.
I have a new work-out split... and cardio and food....
I was informed about not sharing the specifics of the cutting diet by the trainer.... I'll still tell ya what I can along the way. It's going to be changing weekly from now on.
So I'm doing 5 days of 30 min cardio, and 6 days of weights this week.
I also got my supplements!!!

Plan so far on weight days:
yohimburn, 1 CB
shower
a.m.30 min slow cardio
2 gluc, multi-vitamin, triflex, 1 sesapure
M1 chicken and oatmeal
1 gluc, vitamin E and C, calcium/magnesium, 1 sesapure
M2 chicken, whole wheat pasta, Olive Oil
1 CB
M3 powerade, protein, creatine, glutamine
weights
M4 powerade, protein, creatine, glutamine
1 gluc, milk thistle, 1 sesapure
M5 chicken, whole wheat pasta
M6 egg whites, almonds
bed

I also have thermorexin that I'm going to add in, and some amino acids.
Also really trying hard to drink at least 1 gallon of water throughout the day. I also drink a few cups of decaf green tea. Haven't figured out where I want to add the prescription diuretic that I'm supposed to be taking... but haven't been.
I'm really tired right now or I would add the meal split for non weighted days... and what my training split is but I'm going to save that for tommorow!
*nighty night*

Aries the show date is JULY 15th in Detroit

Pam!

CUTTING has officially BEGUN!!!!! I need to get me log name changed to:
Treilin's Competion 2006 log

I have a new work-out split... and cardio and food....
I was informed about not sharing the specifics of the cutting diet by the trainer.... I'll still tell ya what I can along the way. It's going to be changing weekly from now on.
So I'm doing 5 days of 30 min cardio, and 5 days of weights this week.
I also got my supplements!!!

1 gluc, vitamin E and C, calcium/magnesium, 1 sesapure, amino acids
M2 chicken, whole wheat pasta, Olive Oil
1 CB

weights
M4 powerade, protein, creatine, glutamine
1 gluc,1 sesapure, ALCAR

I'll probably add in thermorexin once I feel my appetite needs to be suppressed. Also really trying hard to drink at least 1 gallon of water throughout the day. I also drink a few cups of decaf green tea. I haven't figured out where I want to add the prescription diuretic that I'm supposed to be taking... but haven't been. I'll see if I really need it I suppose. May add in ZMA... if sleeping starts to be an issue. This all will be changing as I progress.

Re: NEW Treilin Log

Treil .. I know your concern has always been to add muscle, esp in your legs. You def can see all over thickness, so GREAT job on that. Your strength is explosive, I still cannot get over it. You have much power for those legs, dang girl, but it's not all about the size ... we know what by now.

Looks like you built a decent tush as well ... I look forward to seeing you lean out to see whatcha workin' with.

Fellow Moose to Moose ... "this will be cake" ... :rose:

Thanks girl :) YEah I had a guy come up to me yesterday and say, "So that work-out is working for you, eh?" I said,"Yep!" He said,"I can tell you have 'TONED' up quite a bit." I said,"Thanks, and just smiled"
Why then would he ask if my diet and work-out were working for me? If he obviously has seen changes??? I know... conversation....
Anyway Feeling good about everything!!!! :)

You were worried? WTF for? This is going to be a cruise for you.

Well this is my first time and the newness to it! Not only that I've never exposed myself to losing this much weight (bodyfat) at one time. So just kinda trusting my trainer to lead me straight.

I guess I feel like I may not have enough msucle. Like this is going to sound stupid, but that my legs are just not going to be big enough and I'm going to look faded out on stage

Just need to get pass that and focus on where I was and how far I have come.....

Re: NEW Treilin Log

Today
Weight 149.4
No weights
I did 30 minutes a.m. cardio

Today's focus is water consumption :)

Sorry I've been real busy at work this week so not a whole lot of time for talking!!!

I'm looking forward to following your cutting journey. You are going to do so GREAT!!

I was reading through your bloodwork results and interestingly, my creatinine was also off the charts when they did my blood work. But as you say, it's a function of muscle metabolism and is supposed to be higher in people who work out with intensity. Thanks for posting further details. It was a good read!

Re: NEW Treilin Log

APR 13th
weight = 149.4
I've been looking at the BF on my scale just to have some guage as far as how my BF may be dropping since I won't be getting that done till next friday.
It was ha ha ha 30.4 the past 3 days. Today it said 29.9, even though my weight stayed the same. So I'm assuming BF dropping.
Today's weights:

Thurs
Hammer Incline Press
DB Incline Press
Magnum Vertical Press
Cable Straight Bar Curl
Preached Curl
Overhead V Bar Extensions
Tricep Pushdowns

I did 30 minutes a.m. cardio following the yohimburn application, and 1 CB injestion.

My back has been so sore from tuesday's work-out!!!!
I dropped my weight a tad to really concentrate on the form and getting that little extra contraction in the muscle. Not a lot maybe by about 5 pounds.
Then next week it will be balls to the walls again!!

Still funny when I had 5 guys staring at me when I deadlifted 275 on monday (only for a few reps though!!) I'm like get to work!

Yeah... If my trainer were there watching my form for me I'm sure I could do another 25. We'll see what the end of these 3 weeks bring. Especially with me dropping weight! Then I should be able to do double my weight :)

Re: NEW Treilin Log

Weight 149.9
Had a GREAT work-out yesterday. I could really concentrate and I was pretty proud. I did 130 pounds for 4 reps on the Hammer Incline Chest Press!
Today is leg day 2 at the gym. I did 30 min a.m. cardio.

Story about my first day as a trainer (If you care to read)
I had my first client yesterday (6'4", 240 pounds, works out 5 days a week, intimidating). I wasn't supposed to train anyone either. I was supposed to train with my manager and he just kinda said. "O.k. here take this guy." So Yeah he fed me to the wolves.... So anyway I got done with him and the general manager came up to me and said,"Did that guy buy a package from you?" I said,"Well he said he had to go home and check his bills he just got a speeding ticket!" So then I find out the guy planned on cancelling his membership and he was just coming in for a training session so that he could cancel it (part of the original agreement). So anyway to make a long story short they threw me out there to see if I would sink or swim and I swam :) They had never done that to any other trainer either. It was funny because all the other trainers kept asking me if that was my first client? That they couldn't even tell because I kicked the guys butt (sweating BAD), and then the girl trainers kept telling me the guy was HOT. I guess when I look at people as a professional I want to help them, I don't look at them as if they are attractive or not. I just said, "Really?" My boss said I will be a legend to start up like I did, save a package deal, and sell training. You know... everyone is interested in sales.. I knew nothing about him cancelling, my whole goal is to help people live their life to the fullest, and unfortunately it will cost them some money in return but the reward is priceless :) The guy had a lot of shoulder issues and I was talking to him about massage and training together. So he seemed more interested in massage. In the long run if I can help him in any way I feel I have done my part. I also have another client saturday, and one on monday. I went home last night and I could hardly sleep I was just happy to help people and train.

Re: NEW Treilin Log

Congrats on the incline hammer press! Very impressive...you make me look like a wimp!

And nice on getting thrown in with the sharks! I'm sure you gained mega-respect from them because of that. And first day on the job at that...NICE!

Thanks girl! My trainer said after the first 3 months "Maybe we should make you a power lifter!" I started laughing and said... "UM NOooooo!"
I love the way the heavy weight feels though!
To bad my legs don't like to show for it,,, ERRrrrrr. They have come up, just going to take me some years of killing them I think. Stupid apple shape!

Re: NEW Treilin Log

Great job on the 130, that is awesome!!

Just out of curiousity ( :nerd: ), what do you think the difference is between a machine verse using the barbell as far as the load/weight is concern? Any thoughts or comments?

CONGRATS on your first client - that is wonderful...though, like bunny said, you are a very intellegent woman and I wouldn't expect anything less!! ;)

Re: NEW Treilin Log

Treilin, that was an outstanding story. Your philosophy makes me even more excited to meet you. Thanks for sharing.

O.k. the reason I prefer the free weight (barbell, dumbell) is that not only are you working the muscle that you are keyed in on but you are using other stabilizers also (like abs, legs if standing). Where as a machine it kinda supports you through the movement and I think some machines actually don't give you the full range potential that you can get with free weights. If I can't go any higher on free weights I jump to a machine with a higher weight and then maybe in a few weeks I can go up in free weight. I also tend to like to use more machines towards the end of a work-out when I am more fatigued for the extra support and control as far as performing the motion correctly.
Though my trainer creates my work-out... So I go by what he tells me to do.

Your the type of trainer I think everybody is looking for, I have seen trainers just in it for the sales and you can tell they don't really want to help you and are just looking for the sale. Good for you! People can really tell when trainer are in it for the money and they don't want to sign up with them. I know it took me a long time to find a trainer that really wanted to help, again that is great!

Re: NEW Treilin Log

So yesterday I had my first big feast that I went to that I watched everyone else eat. We're talking pizza (Nasty), garlic breadsticks (Ewww), yummy salad with all the cheese (gross) and pepperoni (Yuck), ice cream (discusting), cake with frosting (Ekkk), and all I had was lettuce :) Actually I wasn't even jealous or wanting any!!!! It felt so good to just watch. Not only that I went to my parents which is LOADED with junk and I stayed totally away from the kitchen, only time I was in theer was to heat up the chicken I brought and breakfast I also brought. My mom was like, "You know we have food here, you didn't have to bring any!" I was just laughing. She understands more though because I have been telling her about it. My dad on teh otherhand... Hmmm. I sat them down yesterday explaining to them I was going to purposely be losing a lot of body fat and that they are going to think I'm skinny, but told them Don't FREAK out!!! My dad is just like, "Why would anyone want to do that to themself?" and asked,"What do you get out of it?" I said," I love to work-out and I get the satisfaction of being on stage and reaching another goal." He just kinda went o.k....
So I think they are coming. I didn't want to really press them on coming because I don't need any negative vibes, ya know!
So now I'm going out on a date with a guy that understands dieting down because he is a trainer. It's so nice because he said,"I know you can't go out to eat or drink but we can hang out!"
So Off I go :)

Re: NEW Treilin Log

Have fun on your date,Tre! Ya know all the curious Georges on this forum are gonna wana know the details.... :qt: ;)
