Recovery split

I have a pretty demanding schedule and am trying to optimize a workout split for maximum gains. I tried a five on one off for a few months and it tore the hell out of me. I was thinking maybe a three on one off split would work best. At this point in my life lean muscle is my main goal. I can only manage 6 to 7 hrs of sleep a day, but have decent nutrition and supplements. Input would be much appreciated.
 
What does your routine look like now? It's kind of hard to recommend anything w/o knowing how you are training currently. By the way, consider yourself lucky that you can get that much sleep a night. That's plenty bro. I get 1/2 that if I'm lucky.
 
2 on 1 off on a four body part split
3on 1off on a 5 body part split


Also take into consideration that recovery is greatly inhanced on weekend when you can sleep and eat so I recommned not to train both weekend days, it might seem counterintuitive but get the most healing you can on the weekend when you can sleep the most
