called soldiers who don't support the war in Iraq..."Phony Soldiers". Also in the world of Right wing nut job blogs they've rated the guy as their number on double ass, fat fuck, hillbilly Heroin loving soul mate they would most like to share a page with Mark Foley or hook up with in a mens bathroom stall.

LOL, watch it, the argument doesn't hold water. I'm not a fan of the windbag but I actually listened to the show and he caveatted the statement immediately after the call.

Direct transcripts reveal that the only soldier actually called phony was Jesse MacBeth. He continued on after the call ended, and explained what he meant. but Media Matters decided to edit that out of the official transcript of the show.

TheFatman said:
Here is a Morning Update that we did recently, talking about fake soldiers. This is a story of who the left props up as heroes. They have their celebrities and one of them was Army Ranger Jesse Macbeth. Now, he was a “corporal.” I say in quotes. Twenty-three years old. What made Jesse Macbeth a hero to the anti-war crowd wasn’t his Purple Heart; it wasn’t his being affiliated with post-traumatic stress disorder from tours in Afghanistan and Iraq. No. What made Jesse Macbeth, Army Ranger, a hero to the left was his courage, in their view, off the battlefield, without regard to consequences. He told the world the abuses he had witnessed in Iraq, American soldiers killing unarmed civilians, hundreds of men, women, even children. In one gruesome account, translated into Arabic and spread widely across the Internet, Army Ranger Jesse Macbeth describes the horrors this way: “We would burn their bodies. We would hang their bodies from the rafters in the mosque.”

Now, recently, Jesse Macbeth, poster boy for the anti-war left, had his day in court. And you know what? He was sentenced to five months in jail and three years probation for falsifying a Department of Veterans Affairs claim and his Army discharge record. He was in the Army. Jesse Macbeth was in the Army, folks, briefly. Forty-four days before he washed out of boot camp. Jesse Macbeth isn’t an Army Ranger, never was. He isn’t a corporal, never was. He never won the Purple Heart, and he was never in combat to witness the horrors he claimed to have seen. You probably haven’t even heard about this. And, if you have, you haven’t heard much about it. This doesn’t fit the narrative and the template in the Drive-By Media and the Democrat Party as to who is a genuine war hero. Don’t look for any retractions, by the way. Not from the anti-war left, the anti-military Drive-By Media, or the Arabic websites that spread Jesse Macbeth’s lies about our troops, because the truth for the left is fiction that serves their purpose. They have to lie about such atrocities because they can’t find any that fit the template of the way they see the US military. In other words, for the American anti-war left, the greatest inconvenience they face is the truth.

I am also LOL'ing about who spoke up about it on the Senate Floor, Tom "I was a combat decorated pilot who flew F4's in combat in Vietnam" Harkin, who was never in combat and was in fact a shuttle pilot based in Japan that flew spare aircraft (not F4's) back and forth to bases outside of theater.

wikipedia said:
While running for his Senate seat in 1984, and again while running for the Democratic presidential nomination in 1992, Harkin has faced criticism for claiming that he had flown combat missions over North Vietnam. In a 1979 round table discussion with other Congressional Veterans, Harkin said of his service as a Navy pilot: “One year was in Vietnam. I was flying F-4s and F-8s on combat air patrols and photo-reconnaissance support missions”. These comments were later published in a 1981 book by David Broder. After subsequent inquiries by Barry Goldwater and The Wall Street Journal, Harkin clarified that that he had been stationed in Japan and sometimes flew recently repaired aircraft on test missions over Vietnam. His service flying F-4s and F-8s was later, while he was stationed in Cuba.[6] [7] References to this controversy were deleted from Wikipedia by staffers from Harkin's senate office.[1]

LOL at his staffers editing wiki to remove this...

Funny how the left can overlook the facts and circle-around this so-called "Veteran" who washed-out of boot camp after a few weeks in the military.

Its just like the latest quotes from Rush taken out of context -- grab the snipit you want to shore-up an argument you can't win.

Harkin and BUSH II have a lot in common then.

Funny, the phony soldier quote I heard was about someone else in the military and that name "Jessie" didn't come up.

In either case, I find it funny how the left and right are so polarized that no one appears to be willing to admit that there is an issue with their own side.

That is 43 days more than Rush or Cheney served.

Actually, the windbag made the reference in plural form. Only to attempt to smear any soldier disagreeing with the idiotic Administrations fuck up over there. Would you like a transcript... coming right up.

RUSH: Mike, you can’t possibly be a Republican.

CALLER: I am.

RUSH: You can’t be Republican.

CALLER: Oh, I am definitely Republican.

RUSH: You sound just like a Democrat.

CALLER: No, but seriously, Rush, how long do we have to stay there?

RUSH: As long as it takes.

CALLER: How long?

RUSH: As long as it takes. It is very serious. This is the United States of America at war with Islamofascists. Just like your job, you do everything you have to do, whatever it takes to get it done, if you take it seriously.

CALLER: So then you say we need to stay there forever?

RUSH: No, Bill — (Laughing) or Mike. I’m sorry. I’m confusing you with the guy from Texas.

CALLER: I used to be military, okay, and I am a Republican.

RUSH: Yeah.

CALLER: And I do listen to you, but –

RUSH: Right, I know. And I, by the way, used to walk on the moon.

CALLER: How long do we have to stay there?

RUSH: You’re not listening to what I say. You can’t possibly be a Republican. I’m answering every question; it’s not what you want to hear, and so it’s not even penetrating your little wall of armor you’ve got built up. I said we stay to get the job done, as long as it takes. I didn’t say forever. Nothing takes forever. That’s not possible, Bill. Mike. Whatever. Nobody lives forever, no situation lasts forever, everything ends. We determine how do we want it to end, in our favor or in our defeat? With people like you in charge, who want to put a timeline on everything — do you ever get anything done in your life? Or do you say, “Well, I wanted to have this done by now, and it’s not, so screw it”? You don’t live your life that way. Well, hell, you might, I don’t know. But the limitations that you want to impose here are senseless, and they, frankly, portray no evidence that you are a Republican.

Another Mike. This one in Olympia, Washington. Welcome to the EIB Network. Hello.

CALLER: Hi, Rush. Thanks for taking my call.

RUSH: You bet.

CALLER: I have a retort to Mike in Chicago, because I am serving in the American military, in the Army. I’ve been serving for 14 years, very proudly.

RUSH: Thank you, sir.

CALLER: I’m one of the few that joined the Army to serve my country, I’m proud to say, not for the money or anything like that. What I would like to retort to is that, what these people don’t understand, is if we pull out of Iraq right now, which is not possible because of all the stuff that’s over there, it would take us at least a year to pull everything back out of Iraq, then Iraq itself would collapse and we’d have to go right back over there within a year or so.

RUSH: There’s a lot more than that that they don’t understand. The next guy that calls here I’m going to ask them, “What is the imperative of pulling out? What’s in it for the United States to pull out?” I don’t think they have an answer for that other than, “When’s he going to bring the troops home? Keep the troops safe,” whatever.

CALLER: Yeah.

RUSH: It’s not possible intellectually to follow these people.

CALLER: No, it’s not. And what’s really funny is they never talk to real soldiers. They pull these soldiers that come up out of the blue and spout to the media.

RUSH: The phony soldiers.

CALLER: Phony soldiers. If you talk to any real soldier and they’re proud to serve, they want to be over in Iraq, they understand their sacrifice and they’re willing to sacrifice for the country.

RUSH: They joined to be in Iraq.

CALLER: A lot of people.

RUSH: You know where you’re going these days, the last four years, if you sign up. The odds are you’re going there or Afghanistan, or somewhere.

Notice how all the phony soldiers are just Dems and liberals? What about the Repub soldiers that don't support the war or the Administrations lies that got us there in the first place? Are they phony too? I guess doctors who don't openly write script after script for narcotics are "phony" doctors too.

The left touted Jesse MacBeth as evidence of war crimes.

MacBeth claimed he was a corporal, he was not.

Macbeth claimed he was a ranger, he was not.

MacBeth claimed he was in theater, he was not.

MacBeth claimed he had a Bronze Star, he did not.

MacBeth claimed he witnessed atrocities in Iraq, he did not.

MacBeth in fact was indicted for impersonating a soldier.

He'll probably become a US Senator with a (d) following his name, a la Harkin and Kerry.

Limbaugh is a disgusting human being, a true piece of trash..........for his political views? nope.......although they're bad in and of themselves. But I heard with my own ears, not hearsay, with my own ears I heard that cocksucking swinefucker play "it's raining men" when he was reporting Owen Hart's death some years ago. Fucker could not stop laughing as he was reporting a man falling 90 feet to his death and having his face bounce of the turnbuckle and his arms snap as he tried to break his fall on the ropes. I couldn''t beleive what I was hearing.............and the fucker went on and on..........and every 10-15 seconds he'd play the refrain from "it's raining men". How much of a lowlife pondscum do you have to be? I mean he was acting like this wrestler was fucking Pol Pot.............I've never listened to another word of his unless some other show was highlighting yet another callous chicken shit comment that comes out of his fat corpulent fucking mouth. Of all the decent conservative people out there...........this guy is y'all's hero.................say's alot.........it really does.

I'd have to use all of my appendages to count the number of reps out there that are so vile and filthy they shouldn't be allowed to breath our air let alone represent anybody in government. We need a third party so fucking bad it's not funny.

Clear Channel delivers a SMACKDOWN to Harry:

<snip>

Clear Channel CEO Mark P. Mays responded to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) in a letter hand-delivered to his office this evening.

"While I certainly do not agree with all views that are voiced on our stations, I will not condemn our talent for exercising their right to voice them," Mays wrote.

He took a respectful tone, saying he regretted that Reid and others might have been offended by Limbaugh. But ultimately, Mays wrote, he didn't believe Limbaugh's statements were "intended to personally indict combat soldiers simply because they didn't share his own beliefs regarding the war in Iraq."

How is that a Smackdown?

They backpedal just like Rush on what he said.

They agree that his statement (before he changed it) would be / was offensive.

That letter is basically a half ass CYA apology. Not sure how Harry got smacked down by that.

Changed it? He qualified it in the following monologue to the call, The only people changing things are those selectively quoting him.

If you said "I hate little fags who try to hide in the closet", and I said "AAP said he hates fags.", would that be a correct assessment?

Wasn't you just using a singular perspective of the incident when you singled out whatever that dude was that got washed out?

Rush used a plural form to identify anyone not agreeing with the phony war.

Of course, it isn't like anything he says makes a difference anyway.

I listened to the show, that call and the monologue that followed the call. Rush explained what he meant by "phony" soldiers, those who misrepresent thier service. Like Tom Harkin Who said he flew F-4's in combat over Vietnam, when in fact he ferried damaged aircraft (not F-4's) to and from Japan to airbases near Vietnam. He flew F-4's later in his career. He even had his staffers change wikipedia during an election campaign to hide his statements.

Who is the first guy on the floor of the Senate bashing Limbaugh about his statement? Tom Harkin, a 'phony" soldier. to add insult to injury, anything said on the Senate floor cannot be used in a libel suit, so they can get away with saying anything including lies about someone as long as they say it in thier official capacity.

Limbaugh would have grounds for a suit if Harkin would speak like that to the press.

I have gone back and I haven't seen a single thing on this thread altered.

I even checked the thread logs and there is not a moderator action performed on this thread, either by me or anyone else.

Is this the new tactic? You get pwned and then blame me for cheating? Sorry to say that jerseyart tried that tactic all the time and could never pull it off. I hope you are not desperate enough to stoop to those levels.

Seriously, if you need to make up accusations like that in order to try to make a point and reverse the downward spiral of the nonstop pwnage you have suffered the last few days perhaps you should avoid political threads for a while if you are that worked up.

Let's see, there was "Trent Lott is a racist" for attending Strom Thurmond's birthday party. From the party of Robert Byrd.
Then there was "Tom Delay is a crook" for spending campaign contributions on campaigns. This from Clinton, Inc, the people who keep get caught with dirty money from the chinese communists.

Let's not forget "Scooter Libby is a traitor". This for not revealing the identity of a not secret squirrel. From the guys who sent a a former Clinton, Inc conspirator into the national archives to destroy info on 9/11 during the 9/11 commision hearings.

And of course there was the "outrage" over some IM text messages to senate pages, from the people who elected a senator who actually did soddomize teen aged pages to five more terms. This while the other distinguished representive from Massachutsess actually did run a gay whore house of his Georgetown townhouse, and probably still does.

And you're going to see no end of fabricated smears, as whoever runs against the Queen Bee is going to be denounced as traitor, serial litterer, and child molestor.

Meanwhile, the untouchables are going to continue squirreling away money in their freezers, slapping airport security people around, driving drunk, exempting their corporate sponsors from legislation, putting theitr whole Goddamned families on the government payroll, and having their co-conspirators in the national media continue to cover up for them, all in the name of establishing a Stalinist style elite aristocrisy that rules by decree.

Edwards Predicts Doom for African-American Males
Friday , September 28, 2007

Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards said if he isn’t elected president, the population of African-American males is likely to either wind up in prison or dead.

At an MTV/MySpace.com forum Thursday, Edwards responded to a question about inner-city kids partaking in violence by saying there was no “silver bullet” to fight the problem.

“We start with the president of the United States saying to America, ‘we cannot build enough prisons to solve this problem. And the idea that we can keep incarcerating and keep incarcerating — pretty soon we’re not going to have a young African-American male population in America. They’re all going to be in prison or dead. One of the two.”
