yea..

Was down for the most part of the week last week with a killer migraine, finally Wed had to call the Doc to get more meds, So I leave work around noon head home and rest for the remainder of the night.

Wake Thursday, still hurting but decide to head off to work anyway and suck it up. By 1:00 I couldn't take it anymore so I pop two pain pills and two Phenergan knowing damn well they wack me out. But figured, Im up and moving around so eh.. I can handle it.

By the time 3:00 rolls around I'm zoned.. REALLY ZONED. Finished up doing my assignment lights off in my office looking like a weirdo. Stroll into my bosses office, hands covering eyes and ready for my next assignment. Only damn thing is I could barely talk my tongue was so heavy and I was ready to hit the floor and sleep right there.

He knew I'd been suffering with the migraine so I just told him, I took my meds thinking I could swing it and its not good. So he went on with this list of things on a project Im handling, changes, design books..yada yada. Made a to do list but brief no description... and Left that evening to go out of town until This Thursday.

Now I sit here with Two huge drawing, my scribble on them, his scribble on them... a numbered list of parts and For the Fugging life of me I can't remember our conversation.

I'm fucked :(

Moral of the story, Don't take phenergan and pain meds at work.

Anyway, I'll just wing it. Hell, I'm good at my job right?? I can make some shit up and keep busy ;)

Headache went away by sat morning, but I woke this morning and it feels like I felt on Sunday night when it was coming on. I really hope that I don't have another bout of this. My brain can't take it :(

You poor lady!

Hopefully your boss will be understanding. I'm so out of it when I'm on pain meds. It's not like you were just being careless.

So I'm back off to see doc. I'm afraid of another week like last week and all the signs are coming back.

Guessing he's gonna run tests now like he said.

glad ur feeling better
1/2 of a phenegran knocks me on my butt
2 would knock me out for a week.

he told me that if it was still strong to double the dose but he also said I should be HOME. I don't listen well.

My boss was like.. wthell did you take. But he was understanding, I was hurting so bad sitting in his brightly lit office, Near tears in my eyes.. so he went turn the ligts off to fininish up giving me my project details.

Hmmm... Frisky all wasted and not remembering stuff.
*Note to self: tell her to take her meds at the next EF meetup and to wash them down with some Tequila.

ok

first things first, make sure the diagnosis is correct. a specialised headache clinic might be the way to go

second, talk to your doctor about choosing a better calmative than phenergan. some people respond well on phenergan (promethazine), but others are VERY sluggish and that can cause some other dramas...including cause more headaches. personally im a fan of doxylamine, since, while a bit stronger, seems to do the job a bit better. the aim of the game is to go to sleep for a short period of time either during the headache, or during the aura (when you know the migraine is coming), which will end the migraine (usually) - so chat about what sleep drug is right for you.

third, youre nuts taking that stuff when you might have to drive...especially at that dose.

good luck frisky, migraines ruin your quality of life

hey frisk. sorry to hear about the migranes. i truely hope you get what you need to take care of that and also allow you to function. when i had my car accident a few years back i hurt my kneck and the pain went into my head. they gave me all sorts of meds to help with the pain. i went to the doc and she was cool as hell, to ask if there was anything else i could do. she gave me a shot of something which was on top of all the other pain meds i was on and i went back to work and was talking as if i just went out and got fucked up drinking. it was funny.

slat.....LOL

He gave me more imitrex for preventative purposes.

I am gonna give the phenergan a shot this early where i can take a normal persons dose. I didn't know what else to ask for but now i know what to discuss with him if i need to go back.

he explained alot of things to me, basically right now its that 'aura' you speak of that im getting. so he sent me home to rest, waiting for the meds to kick iin so I can actully lie my head down.

If the headaches persist or get stronger he's gonna order an MRI for precautions.

I also have a horrible sleep disorder, which of course don't help this at all. I think we've tried everything in the book and nothing seems to work. He has me on Lunesta now, said it works really good. If in a week or so i see no difference in my habits he will order some Sleep tests to see my sleep paterns.

I know i am nuts to think i could drive on that crap..... NEVER again. I wasn't thinking straight at all.

Thank you :rose:

i believe you were suppose to check the specs on the rotory handle... i'm an idiot

Damn, F. Get better soon. I had a migrane all weekend. I sat down on Sunday and prayed and whoosh...now you have it! :)

Don't say I don't love you and never get you anything.

Did he tell you that Imitrex was to be used as a preventative?

It's not - it's an abortive med to be taken at the onset of an attack.

Phenergan will only help you for nausea and vommiting - it's normally used in conjunction with demoral in a hospital or office.

You should have a brain scan done and get a refferal to a better suited doctor to treat you.

Migraines suck. My siblings get them and they have been totally debilitated by them. I wish you a speedy recovery.

i meant abortive, soory. Its what he's given me before and it works at the onset if taken in time.

I asked him about the Phenergan and he said it was used in conjunction with other meds for the nausea caused by migraine. Furthur research showed that it helped the migraine also.

I'm still out today with it, Got better then got worse as the night went by. I took the imitrex yesterday and taking it agian this am.

Imitrex-abortive, yes.

Interestingly, according to the Diamond Headache Clinic, there have been promissing results using Phenergan to treat migraines. There is a school of thought that links migraines now to gastrointestinal stresses and that some 'migraines' originate there. Not sure how well supported that all is, i got that info second hand from my bro last night. Both he and i have had stints at Diamond for Vascular headaches in the past.

Vel, what do take as a migraine profalactic? sorry, to lazy for spell check... ;)... I have been using Midrin for years as an abortive and not needed to expand on my personal meds as that has worked fine, but would love to know what works well for others....

i cant believe you told her to have a brain scan...how was she supposed to know? ( ;) ) ...talk about rude!

lol this thread goes to show how different things are here and in the states. frisky, velvetts explanation was fair enough...the promethazine will work as an anti nausiant, and if youve chatted with your doc, then great :) obviously, follow his advice and go with whatever rescuer he has advised

velvett, this is the second headache thread youve jumped into with similar results :) im really impressed :) (and sorry...since youve likely paid for the information dearly)

toodles
