This darned strike is killing my TV watching. I want my last season of Battlestar and now I have no excuses to avoid studying for certs. :)

A writers strike has stopped production for the last nine weeks or so.

Really? I was unaware of this. I dislike reality television... mainly since it's not reality but a scripted show that requires ratings to stay on the air. So all in all, I'm assuming this strike is a good thing?

The corporations are spamming reality TV shows to weather the strike, since they don't need writers and the producers push the content. FOX has American Idol which makes them best able to weather the storm. Of course the whole controversy is over web media content and writer reimbursement for new media.

But NBC is bringing back American Gladiators! :D

Rumor has it that Galactica may never be completed due to the strike. Quite a burn, I've been waiting since the original series to see how it was going to play out. (No, Galactica 1980 does not count.)

Kind of sick that actors are walking the picket lines in support of writers who are trampling all the 'little people' -- the carpenters, set dressers, makeup artists, electricians, camera operators.... But also sick is how that whole industry is systematically crippling technological progress. "Watch a DVD on a widescreen computer monitor without Vista?! You must be a terrorist!"

Smartest thing the NY Times did for their "People who died in 2007" magazine spread was figure out a way to avoid mentioning Jack "The VCR Will Kill Hollywood!" Valenti. There are two dead people whose graves I want to visit with a full bladder, and he's one.

If they don't finish Battlestar I just might have a nervous breakdown. It took me a while to make the transition from action/adventure to drama, due to my admitted bias, but I like the new series; Even a female Starbuck. :)
