Reading some Shakespeare again

but this time, with the modern english translation right next to the original writings. i like it that i don't have to break my ass trying to figure out what the fuck exactly shakespeare was trying to say.

english to english translation :D

i guess you can call it shakespeare for dummies.

it still amazes me how shakespeare turns the english language to something very artful. you have to admit the english language is kinda boring but not with shakespeare. or do you think it is not boring and we make it boring because we are too stupid? maybe we butchered the language sort of like how the black thugs with their ebonics ghetto talk. not to say i don't use some of it myself any my grammar and usage of the language is atrocious.

you know if i could drop the lines he could, imagine the vagina i would be getting. ok, probably not awhole lot more, ok, probably wouldn't make a difference, but i would still sound good before getting shot down, that's gotta count for something.

I dont think English is boring. There are plenty of modern authors make "artful" use of the English language.
Having said that, most of my favorite authors write in Spanish.

is it because spanish is a romance language and it sounds so much better in spanish?

One fairer than my love? The all-seeing sun Ne'er saw her match since first the world begun.

A woman more beautiful than the one I love? The sun itself has never seen anyone as beautiful since the world began.

I guess shakespeare could have wrote, "Hotter than my bitch?" "Damn, that's the hottest chick I've ever seen." :D

Jesus, will you shut up you illiterate fuck.

And Fists...Granted, Shakespeare is amazing, but English literature didn’t die in the Elizabethan period.

Look into Charles Bukowski. He is crass but his writing just hits you hard. And he manages to mix in some beautiful imagery in with the vulgarities. He is definitely on my top 10 authors of all time.

Well, Blake's etchings were pretty cool. He was a bit of a loon but there was some good stuff there. What about Samuel Taylor Coleridge?

what pisses me off is that they did something great while they were alive. i'm always jealous of artists and scientists and such who contribute something or something worth remembering to humankind. they be remembered and appreciated.

I'm a Blake and Lovecraft fan... so I'm not all that versed in literature. I usually find something I like and study it in detail.

Unfortunetly, scientific progression is made on the backs of those who make mistakes and go the wrong directions (read: 99.999% of scientists, lol).

Sometimes being a part of something larger is in itself something to be proud of... or maybe it's something that makes all of the failures feel better at night.

Art? Like, Manowar?

this is true, it seems even in medicine alot of advances are accidental. with all the money and research, you figure it wouldn't be like that.

but i consider newton and einstein to be scientists and how much of their stuff was accidental? example the mathematical principles written by newton is still way beyond most of us. adam and jamie on mythbusters talked about how his laws of gravitation is so important to science. i remember force equals mass times acceleration. i think newton came up with that. (you know i hate physics) they will be remembered though for something great just like shakespeare.

Agreed.

Newton's laws were never taken that seriously in his lifetime... his laws were based on centuries of other "laws" that were incorrect (by lack of instrumentation, knowlege, etc.). Einstein's relativity theories were proposed (and later verified) largely due to prevailing knowlege at the time which was inconsistant with observation.
