READ I may have ripped my Pec..

On my 2nd week of my mass cycle of 1500mg testoviron and 8 dbols daily. I went from 315lb on the bench for 6 reps, then being cocky I went straight to 385. I got half way down, then heard/felt a rip in my left pec. It now has a bigger pump than the right pec. Yes, I'm in pain and I know it will be worse tomorrow. What do you guys think happened?

Having suffered two major tears myself, sounds like you might have had a small muscle tear. Had you damaged the tendons you would not be there writing the message. The best advice I can give is to go and get an MRI done immediately. FInd the best sports doc you can find as most are worthless. If its a small tear, it will heal itself but you will need to go easy with it. If you have bruising, you know for sure. You might even want to consider coming off the cycle. I know this osunds like a pain in the ass but I've had nothing but problems for 3 years, better to retreat and fight another day.

BPP

That sucks Mike, but I thing BPP is right. Take care of it now and do it right so that it does not haunt you later.

BTW, enjoyed reading your about your adventures in Thailand! Good luck with the injury.

Mike that is really bad news. I have followed your Thai trip threads and though you looked really good.
I have not had a similar injury and so unfortunately can not help but would take BPP advice. Like he says better to be safe and come back 100% than struggle on and do permanant damage.

Good luck hope it is not serious and you are back to full fitness soon

Again, listen to BPP. Consider this too. If it was a major tear your damage side would probably be completely black and blue within the first couple of hours. Be safe and give it time to heal.

I was sweating throughout the night, the pain is worse now. I'm on my way to the doc in an hour. I'll let ya'll know the outcome.

I had the same thing happen to me last year while benching. It sounded like velcro tearing. It then rolled up into a ball towards the middle of my chest.

And yes, unfortunatly I had to have surgury to repair it. It ripped the pec tendon clean off the bone. :bawling:

at least its not a major tear, as you wouldnt even be able to press the keys on the keyboard or get out of bed. good luck at the doc

There is no way to know for sure how bad a tear it is until you get an MRI.

When I went to the emergency room that night, the ER doc said it was probably just a slight tear in the muscle belly of the pec and would eventually heal. The next day I followed up with my orthopedic doc and the MRI revealed a complete tear right off the bone.

When the injury happened it hurt quite a bit but I wasn't in pain as bad as I thought a tendon tear would hurt. It all depends how high your pain threshold is.

Good luck Mike and go see an orthopedic doc.

If it is a complete tendon tear off the bone what you have to look forward to is about 5 months of hell, maybe more.

After I had the surgury to reattach the tendon to the bone my arm was strapped to my body and imobilized for 2 weeks. After the 2 weeks they took out the staples and now I have a lovely scar almost 5 inches long. Then I start physical therapy which is nothing more than stretching and trying to regain flexibility. The stretching was pure hell. I could barely move my arm. I went to therapy 3 times a week and the days I didn't go I would would do the same stretching exercises at home 4 or 5 times a day. About 2 weeks after starting therapy I had regained almost all flexibilty. The therapists and doc were amazed it was healing so fast as I was about a month ahead of recovery.

Finally 2 months after the operation I was able to start very light resistance training. I didn't have the strength to bench much more than the bar. Everyweek my strength improved and I got stronger. Now almost 10 months later I would estimate my left pec is at about 90% of what it was. The doc said it would never be as strong as before but its still too early to tell. I hope to prove him wrong.

I hope it is a minor muscle tear and nothing more. Your pecs are my ideal target ever since u posted ur pics. I wish I could have them! sob. :bawling:

Thanx for your replies of info bros. I'm on my way to the doc now. I bet they don't carry stronger pain meds than what I have in my on arsenal, ha, ha. I let you know what they say.

Those bastards did nothing for me today. Showing that I still have full range of motion in my left arm. the scheduled me for an appointment tomorrow and told me to continue w/ motrin. I asked for something stronger and the nurse said maybe the doc will get me some tomorrow. It's a good thing I keep my own shit (valium, temgesic and the nasty nubain). the hell with them, I'll give my chest a break and squat my ass off until the chest heals.

sorry to hear that, Mike...

COnsider this:

full range of motion probably means a minor tear.
If your skin is not totally black and blue by now, you can comfort yourself in the idea that its not as bad as it could have been.

good luck to you...

I got back from the doc for the final time. It was a minor pull and getting better as I type. They gave me some naproxen for antiflammatory. I'm going to continue my cycle. Work my legs until the chest has healed up, should be no more than two weeks as long as I keep stretching the muscles. Thanx for ya'll support.

p.s. They took my blood pressure for the last two days in a row and as you know, 10 dbols daily will damn near break the machine. So, yes my bp was very high. They wanted to put me on a 5 day daily bp check up. I got out of that shit. Peace

That's great to hear Mike. You were luckier then I was. Just take your time and let it heal up and don't push it too hard for a while. Like you said now is the time to blast those legs. :)

I thought if you tore a pec you wouldn't be able to raise your arms and the muscle would curl up into a ball on your chest.
