raw eggs

I still do but only if I'm in a hurry.

I seem to get bad gas from the raw ones so I just cook them when ever possible.

No offense, but that's kinda disgusting.

You guys taking raw eggs may want to do some research into raw egg digestibility vs. cooked egg digestibility.

Intestinal (ileal) digestibility is about 91% vs. 50% in favor of cooked eggs.

You're wasting 50% of your eggs taking them raw.

It is not disgusting as, when blended, it gives the shake a thicker and creamier consistency without the use of gums which does not sit well with my digestive system. There are raw eggs in many food dishes and often raw eggs are responsible for the great taste of dishes such as fudge, cake icing, homemade raw cookie dough...

my mum used to make souffle with raw egg white beaten in right at the end.... that was her secret to make it nice and light...

but that's just to make sweets taste good.... i'd rather eat it cooked if i want it digested better.

and what does that have to do with digestibility? I never said anything about it being disgusting.

So you're telling me you're putting raw eggs in your shake not for the protein, but for a better consistency/more volume?

I guess it's ok then that you are only digesting half that protein. I was just trying to help a brother out.

All my research indicates that raw eggs are extremely well digested, and a better protein source than cooked eggs.

Either keep researching legitimate scientific materials, or keep drinking raw eggs. Either way, makes no difference to me.

1. Nothing. I was addressing the statement regarding raw eggs in protein shakes being disgusting.

2. For both. The artificial gum used to make several brands thick does not sit well with my stomach.

3. Yes

Nothing against cooked eggs as I eat plenty of those too.

If I'm in a hurry and have no other way to get some quick calories/protein, I'll drinking down a bunch of raw eggs.
