RALA v ALA

I'm aware RALA is the bioactive version of ALA. I have also read around 1/3 of ALA is converted into RALA.

So I ask - if I buy ALA and consume 3 times the recommended amount of RALA, is it just as effective?

I ask b/c its far cheaper in AUS to the best of my knowledge

I'm not too sure, but I know the S-isomer of ALA is worthless. That's why most people use RALA. If the RALA is so much more expensive just try your method. I've heard it works great combined with CoQ10.
 
You are correct on you 1/3 dosage. Regular ala has both r-ala and s-ala. Some people say there are tons of negative effects on s-ala, such as inhibiting glycogen synthesis.

Most people say that regular ala is worthless in the area of insulin sensitivity and promoting lipolysis. I'm not sure.

I haven't seen r-ala talked about on here in quite a while. I do take r-ala myself with all my carb meals... and since adding it, I have had a dramatic increase in fat burning. Having never used regular ala, I can't compare the two.
