How much do you like this girl? Is it someone that you don't really know, like a girl you saw on mass transit that you had to ask out?... Or is this someone that you have been "working" awhile - ie coworker or something of that sort.

My advice - do something different. Don't do the dinner thing. Go to an exhibition for the afternoon - It will give you guys a lot to talk about and get to know things about each other that you might not find out otherwise. And if you are having fun, then by all means, continue on to a meal. But if it isn't clicking then small time and hardly any monetary investment and an easy way to end what could be an awkward situation.

That is a bad call, worst mistake ever plaining a first date on V-day. She will think too much into it, and you just want to blow your load...this will end in disaster.

Nah I try not to buy into that crap DT when I have BF I don't want him to make a big deal just cause it is V-Day. He should treat me like a princess 24/7 365;)
 
Since the first date is V day, just don't try to go ass to mouth. That should only be attempted on the 2nd date.

I agree, but if you are going to get her something, get something small like velvett suggested. A first date on V day could be awkward due to high romantic expectations, but could be really fun as long as you keep it simple. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

When I was a youngin and single on V day I would go to the bar. Chances are, if girl was there, she was single and not happy to be alone. BAM, you are in. Ahh good times, good times ;)

To bad I am all growed up now ;)

i don't like red because it means love. a white rose shows your intentions are pure (even if they're not) and i think pink means friendship/lust.

I tend to disagree, some ladies take v day as a big thing-its the thought that counts. I would say go for it tiger! If she feels pressured or was expecting too much just add that you thought it would be nice to get together that day and leave it at that.
A rose at the end of the evening is a nice touch.
