I ran into some friends that I haven’t seen in a long time...well I am a tad bigger now, and I have some muscle, anyway...these male friends of mine said that I have ruined my look, and that a woman is supposed to be soft and feminine…So I want your opinions gentlemen….it seems the only guys who appreciate women with muscle, are those that are bodybuilders or in the gym etc…I am finding a lot of guys are intimidated by it and say it is gross and women are not supposed to look like that, personally I think it is insecurity and jealousy. I am just wondering what some of your opinions are on women and their physiques…And another question what do you think personally about women who do cycles, compete etc…how do you all feel about that as well????? A few years ago, i would maybe agree with them, but now....I think muscle on women is very attractive and I love it, but that is me...what about the rest of you???

I think it is cool that a woman wants to get hard, and I respect the drive they have....But even thou I lift like mad I still have in my head the model of physical perfection as a softer form. I really like the lean look. For me as long as a woman is skinny that is enough. But I have had muscle bound woman ask me the same question in the gym, and what am I going to say? If I admit the woman on freinds are hot I am going to get called a pig.....

I like the fitness-style body-form.

Lean and fit is A-Okay in my book.

In regards to the hard-core female BB'ers I'm not
attracted to them BUT I do have a
profound respect for their discipline.

Just out of curiousity, can you describe
your friends physical appearance
and his fitness?

Remeber, 99% of the people in society
don't understand why we do what we do
as BB'ers.
Sad. But true.

Your friends are no different.

Godspeed

Yeah, you ruined your look alright, now your boobs look smaller, that's about it. As far as not looking like a skinny anorexic runway model, that's a look worth ruining. You already know what I think.

To answer your question fonz these guys are in good shape, they workout etc. I was just curious to what guys think...i prefer the way i look now, and if they think i look gross now...hmmmm Ive just begun:D

the way i see it, if they don't like it, screw 'em... you're not doing it to attract the type of men who like soft, skinny, bony, wimpy gals, now are ya???

Funny, I posted a similar question on chat not too long ago (actually, I think it was like last week).

I seen ya girl, in the flesh, and if I was gonna go the other way and you were a brunette.....I'd be on ya' like white on rice! :p

Shit, you have an amazing physique. SKINNY IS EASY - who the fuck wants that?

Still, I know how you feel. I am less muscular than you (:() but I STILL get the, "You are starting to look like a guy" - shit. FUCK THEM.

I have SEVERAL fashion photogs who now want to shoot me because they enjoy the balance of a hard-earned aesthetically pleasing physique and a "pretty face". For me, this is a tremendous complement. These are industry professionals who earn their living shooting women who look like overgrown starving BOYS.... So, it seems to me at least, that in some small way, perhaps I AM helping to affect a POSITIVE societal change by being recognized for a DIFFERENT IDEAL of BEAUTY!

I am not delusional. I am not saying that I, PERSONALLY will end up on some cover of Vogue or anything ridiculous like that. But if people like this are beginning to appreciate a strong woman.......who knows how many others will be influenced as a result?

New@GB - you are truly a vision of beauty. And the fact that you are genuine and sincere, smart and obviously disciplined and knowledgeable only ADDS to the total package.....and on top of that, A MOTHER TOO! If I only knew at your age, what I know now.......ahhhhhhh, now I need to stop it, I FEEL OLD! hehehehehhee

Tell those fuckers to talk to me! I'll let them know that it is OK to be threatened by a woman who can probably outlift them.....WE UNDERSTAND! LOL!!!:FRlol: :FRlol: :FRlol:

depends on what you mean by "woman with muscle" post a pic or something, but those hardcore-near-to-guy look are disgusting. I guess its almost like fucking another dude. But if you mean a shape like those bikini babes well noi problem.........

I think most men are attracted to feminine looking women (i.e. baby-like facial features, petite body, child-bearing shape). Studies have shown that this is what most men are naturally attracted to in a women because it signifies the features that are good for a good passage of genetics to the next generation.

Personally, I'm attracted to a woman who is in shape (tight abs, butt, legs), medium bust (B-C cup is ideal, but this is not absolutely necessary), and a pretty face.
A muscular woman doesn't intimidate me, it just begins to remind me of a man if they get too muscular and this makes me less attracted to her.

New@GB,

I'm not a man but a voice of experience...keep doing what makes YOU happy. They say "You can't please all the people all the time" and this is true with men and their tastes (women too of course). Some men might feel threatened by your drive, discipline and independence, all of which is evidenced by your awesome physique, and others just might not like the muscular aesthetic. That's ok. It shows you're not one to follow the crowd. Don't worry, the RIGHT man will appreciate those traits AND your look.

By the way, why is it that these friends feel the need to tell you you've "ruined your look"? I wonder if it goes back to that 'women w/muscle = taboo' thing? What if instead you'd gained fat instead of muscle - I wonder if they would have said you've "ruined your look"? (I analyze too much, I know.) Would they ever tell one of their guy friends that HE's ruined his look for whatever reason?!

Lobo....ill get it to u tonight! Bmom thnks girl......as for my post, I was just wondering what men thought in general about women and muscle and what they like etc, not really my personal physique. I am happy with how I look and those that dont like it...well FUCK U...I like being strong and have some meat on my bones!! I would NOT change now for ANYONE or ANYTHING. Its who i am now and so thats how it goes. Thnks for all the replies....

Ask who you are doing this for and you'll find your answer. I really could care less what others think about my progress. And those who mock me are the ones who I would avoid in life anyway. My girlfriend feels the same way. Like Bikinmom said anyone can be skinny. Be proud of your hard work. Not many people can hack it...

BBing is my lifestyle. I love going to the gym with my chick - I love being with her, and she loves being with me as we have similar interests and thankfully we do anything everyything together (to a certain extent).

Fitness chicks are awesome. A chick can be muscular (toned) and still have that smooth baby skin, beautiful features, and that great smell. But I dislike the BBing women, many are larger than me and that starts to get disgusting. I think men like the feel that they protect the woman, not they protect them. I love huddling my arms around her, but I would hate a 17´arm around me huddling me. In any case, they do deserve respect, jsut that they are not attractive.

I also dislike a fragile girl that looks like shes going to break.

hope that made sense.

as long as you dont look like a man, youre all good. If youre toned and beautiful, thats perfect.

:)

I identify with many cultures...bb'ing, fitness, computer nerds, black, white, east indian, american indian, irish, canadian...etc.

But my physical traits mean that I am identified usually as African-American or Latin-American.

Why is this relevant?

I moved to a more mixed neighborhood where there are more walks of life, and guess what?

People of color LOVE WOMEN with MEAT on their bones. Athletic, muscular women are no exception.

I've also noticed that the black guys (even the skinny ones) at the gyms I've gone to always flirt with that one chocolate girl with the muscular body similar to Marion Jones (Olympic track athlete)...and there is always at least one woman that fits this description at most gyms in Chicago.

In my adulthood, I've lived in a mostly white neighborhood for so long that I thought I was invisible and unattractive. My new neighborhood with more varied cultural backgrounds has welcomed me in a way much different, and they appreciate my physical qualities.

Being black/of color makes the muscle thing a lot easier--not perfect, but easier.

Putting all this in a cultural context shines a light on a virtual fact: what you grew up with is what you tend to appreciate later in life. Most Americans did not live next door to the female state hurdles athlete, whereas, where I grew up, most of the black girls were on the track team and several of them did short runs and built up real muscle.

(Because of my lighter skin color and good in school, my mother figured I was too "pretty" to "mess up my body" and wanted me to identify more with white culture by excelling in school work instead.)

So the attractiveness of muscular women is really a matter of culture...of course, this is not new...but I've dealt with this all my life on other issues...interesting to see how physical traits encourage prejudice in mainstream culture.

Flames or comments on this observation?

Also lets consider the future --- a skinny runway model looks "hot" to some today - what does she look like in 30 years? And if she has some eating disorder issues that could possibly lead to osteoporosis and brittle bones. Rickety old lady is not pretty.....

Take a look at all the older women who are in shape and see how old they really look (not old at all!) and the quality of life that they enjoy compared to those who did not respect their bodies in their younger years! Like they say, when the looks are gone, what remains is what is really important.

My favorite reason for pursuing resistance training is the studies they have done on sedentary nursing home people who start a "training regimen" of lifting soup cans and manage to result in fantastic increases in muscle mass! Since I plan on driving a Harley when I'm 90, I think this is a good thing to start NOW!

So, my comment to the guy who makes rude comments about muscular women - Who the hell is going to push your wheel chair & oxygen tank around when you are old & grey??

in regards to the relation of culutre and "meat on the bones", yes, this is definately an attitude that can be seen in cultures that have originated in "poverty" (i.e. black americans coming from slavery)... when slavery was abolished, a lot of former slaves weren't exactly well off, and as time progressed, black poverty in some areas became a real issue... people went hungry...

by this analogy, more meat on your bones meant you were eating, which meant that you had money... a desireable trait... this idea has been passed down in different forms, and after all, what you like and don't like is very much a product of your conditioning, what has been passed down through generations in your family and community...

my fiance is from Barbados and enlightened me to this concept on our first trip down there (basically it still applies to men, although the fashion industry and all their "ideals" have changed the way women are looked at)... basically, a man with a belly means he can take care of you... skinny men can't even put food on their own table, how are they going to feed your family...

i think this same logic can be applied to men and women for a great deal of history... its only been in the past 100 years or so that things normally considered "related to the 'lower class'" have become not only acceptable but desireabe within society, i.e. to name a couple things - Thiness (dieting?, people 200 years ago ate whenever they wanted, it was only poor people who rarely ate and were therefore skinny), tanning (it was only the field workers who were in the sun enough to let their skin darken)... even muscles could probably be related to only those who did physical labour (espeically among women who were supposed to 'stay home' and keep house...

does this logic make sence?

New,

I am an amateur bb myself. (stared working out at 12 yrs old in the basement with the plastic weights.........LOL Remeber those). anway, Muscles and fitness have always been a part of my life, So I think intern I like girls with developed muscles as well. I like physiques from fitness level all the way up to larger off season bodybuilders. I think it is improtant to retain a female presence about yourself, the problem is most people equate strength and muscles as to being non feminine.........I dont!

Im sure you look gorgeous! But as long as you feel good about yourself.....like you said.....who cares what others think!

I can go either way.... i like the soft skinny girls that i see in clubs.... but sometimes they are not in as good of shape as their clothes make them look when you see them naked!

When I see a girl with muscles it doesn’t turn me off. It gets the idea in my head of a hot muscular chick rocking my world in bed harder then any wimpy girl could :)

I would have to say with Peter8581's reply.....we close down this thread with a big AMEN to that ;)

I just registered to this board and I know this was posted 2 years ago...
I love women who trains! heavy, light whatever. Not only am not intimidated by that (why would I, I never understood that) I encourage my wife to workout (but as an MD she doesn't have too much free time). but as you said, I workout so I can appreciate the effort not just the looks.
Regarding Cycles, Go for it, It great.
Sorry for the late respond :).
Bye

I am not a freaky huge guy...but still...a lot of women do not like how big that I am. They do NOT come up and talk to me for one reason or another. If a woman does not like the way that I look, then I would not want her anyway.

Question: If a guy did not like the way that you looked...would you want to be with him? Then why bother worrying?

I am not a pretty guy at all. When I train and compete...I am dirty, smelly, bloody, and very intense. Heck, I train the same way. A "preppy" woman wouldn't like me either...they wouldn't understand me and my desire to push my body past where anyone thinks that it can go. If they do not understand and appreciate that desire inside of me...I can not understand or appreciate them either.

Not attracted at all by the hardcore female BB. I guess their have their own reason to do this (even if I still dunno why). I think its about making a difference between a dude and a gal. The day both look similar means there's a problem....

NEW@, I think most men in general prefer that skinny-fat girl look, simply because it is what they are used to. Most mainstream men are not yet accustomed to the fit women of these days. I was always puzzled though, when meeting the girlfriends of guys I met in the gym...they were always the skinny-fat kind. My boyfriend definiately thinks you are a very attractive woman. He commented on how you have great muscularity as well as femininity. (you got it all!:D ) I remember a specific old pro BB that was TOTALLY fixated on you when I was trying to introduce myself to you at the Arnold...but I was patient since I saw that love struck look in his eyes! I guess it boils down to what is on the inside too. The most beautiful women whether skinnyfat or lean and mean is an ugly turnoff if she is a bitch.

My male friends have told me the same thing after I dieted down before. They told me you look better at this size instead of with more muscle. ????? Little do they know I have to practically kill myself to get down to be a smaller size. So screw them. If they don't like my big ass the way it is when I'm "healthy" then they can get the hell out, this is MY WORLD!:D

I remember seeing a picture of you when you went to the arnold. You stood besides Nasser and I thought you looked VERY sexy.

Those guys that say you look discusting are full of it. You have the type of body I dream a girlfriend on having. I would slap you all day long you sexy girl. :p

About cycling yes you can, BUT please, dont do it to the extent were you end up with a deep voice. Thats not attractive and a line must be drawned. I dont care how much you like bodybuilding you have to remember that we want to marry a femenine woman not a man. If you are getting big but still conserve your femenenity, you have nothing to feel ashamed of.

Well, i have not seen you *feel free to email pictures to [email protected]* But my opinion on the subject is you can't please everyone with the way you look nor should you worry about trying to. There are extreme's to every person's perception of what is beautiful and what isn't...i think most men in general would agree that if you look like arnold with boobs, a deep voice and a beard then its too much....

In conclusion, don't worry about it hun, im sure you look beautiful :)

I think women with muscle and strength are sexy as hell . Most guys ARE intimidated by it and that's a shame . To me, it adds a sense of mystery not to mention all the sexual fun you could have with a very strong hard woman . Society has this thin and weak deal goin , what a shame there too . I haven't seen pics of you New, but im sure that you look dynamite girl . Stick with what you love and to hell with those weak dick weak minded assholes . ( sorry those were your friends ) didn't mean to bash them in particular, but just guys that think that way .

Thanks

I'm a woman but think as a general rule (at least in my circle of guy friends), men do not like skinny, bony women. Most of them have said that women should be soft and feminine but that some muscle is a plus. I DO believe there is an intimidation factor. However, it all boils down to preference.

For example, there is a girl at my gym who is certainly NOT super big by any means, but is solid muscule, flat as a board, and appears to have some masculine traits....from what I hear, the guys think she's totally IT! Which proves the point of preference. Some like muscle others like scrawny.....

I wouldn't worry about your male friends comments. Do what makes you happy because there are men out there who appreciate it.

I think I posted this thread quite a while ago....totally forgot about it..thnks for the posts in my behalf....I like the way I look now...would not change it for the world!!! I am not looking to get much bigger....but really getting what I got down to a science...I want to bring my hamstrings out more and work on my shoulders and legs a bit...but I am satisfied w/ what I have worked on for the past 2 years.....I have come a long way...those that do not like....I dont really fuckin care...no time for it...get more bull shit from the women than anything...but it really amuses me more than anything now.

I work my ass off in the gym and w/ my nutrition....I dont bull shit...I take my time off here and there but I am focused and determined to achieve my goal...and I will....I will never be able to be w/ someone that does not accept my lifestlye and understands what I am doing....it just would never work..and I want someone that takes care of their body too....and has the same desires I do...to have muscle as a female..is not the norm...even if you are a fitness chick or a bb.....

To me it is whatever makes you happy...if you wana be huge..get huge...its your body...I am not one to judge nor do I care...I like the same for me...I can come across bitchy...and I guess I am a bitch...but I am always willing to help a friend out and give guidance for the bull shit I already went through...ie dumb diets...over training etc...I dont know everything and I am still learning as I go...but I have learned a lot from a lot of very intelligent people...ok I am rambling now....bottom line...I have only just begun:)

Very well said!!!!! I get crap from people all the time because of the way that I train and because I am not a muscular or as big as I once was. Who cares though if I am happy with how I am training and how I look?

Shoot...other strongmen ask me if I am a bodybuilder because I am so lean..haha...I am lean...hahaahaahah.

That is why I love strongman...people think that I am lean...haha.

New@:

First of all, I've seen you go through several stages with your body.. and I have to say you get more beautiful every day!
You are more dedicated and focused with your diet and nutrition than anyone I have ever come in contact with.

I understand where your coming from and what you mean when your old friends say stuff like.. 'your not going to get much bigger are you??' or 'your not going to look like one of those gross body builders are you?' yeah yeah.. whatever, pisses me off too. In my opinion, the average male has a general misconception when it comes to women body builders. They are very uneducated. However, on the other hand, there are many women body builders that I respect but would not want to look like. This is usually due to poor facial genetics and the improper use of AS. Moreover, there are more runway models that look like death that I would never want to look like.

Basically, just wanted to say you are beautful and look happy on the (inside and out) and keep of the dedicated because it is paying off and will continue to payoff in the future.

:)

Hey all
I think I posted this thread quite a while ago....totally forgot about it..
I guess I am to blame... as I said I am new here and I don't really know the etiquette about renewing old posts lol.
I saw a lot of posts similar to mine and I love it. I have posted mine because I am sick to death with the Fashion TV look and answered the question for the benefit of anyone who read it (and my wife...)
new@, they say you look great (I haven't seen any pics) but I am sure they are right. that's great. I have yet to see a Before picture:o that looked better then the After picture:p .
Women with muscle Are Sexy!!!
Muscle up everybody!!!
Bye

Benz1 thank u for the compliments...very sweet...do i know u???

Do you girls like the looks of super big freaks that walk out on the olympia stage?....

I would say that most of us guys, including myself, do like a muscular lady but they have to still look like a female...some top competitors look terrible IMO...huge and angular..yuck:insane: That doesn't mean that I do not like the women that has put on a good deal of muscle with roids, though but there is a limit to it all. My .02:)

Anns avatar does nothing for me :(

Personally, I'm not a big fan of muscle on women.

When I say muscle, I mean.... there's a point. Fit and toned is wonderful.... but not to the point where you're bulky. Most girls on the bodybuilding stage have taken it beyond my liking, but occasionally I see one who looks fine.

I don't think guys like any extreme.... whether it be fat, muscle or skinniness.

Speaking for all of my friends, they don't like muscle on girls.
