question for mod's and long-timers

A potential source for me said he was going to email some mod's and/or long-timers to check me out. I don't know, I guess that's how he works, I never asked him to do it. He never emailed me back, so I guess whoever he emailed just bashed me. I think it's undeserved. If any of you reading this are the ones I'd like to know why. This is very serious and is really bothering me, so come on and let's hear it. If you want to take it off-line that's fine with me also.

Usually the source will ask you for a list of well knwn guys that will vouch for you. i's not totally uncommon...It does take awhile so be patient...

I appreciate the responses guys, really. I don't know what's bothering me more, the fact that I can't use the source or that someone feels poorly of me.

But I did what you said once, Ironfist, but I made the mistake of not getting the person's permission first. Needless to say it didn't go well. I made a bad call that I won't make again.

Bro, if memory serves me - didn't you use me as a reference to a source without getting my permission? At the time claiming I could vouch for you when I didn't know you? I remember having to email several sources saying not to touch you with a ten foot pole, that I did not vouch for you and did not know you.

I do not provide source information or referals to sources under any circumstances. Many of the long term sources know me and know that I do not casually provide referals. I think you may have raised a lot of suspicion about yourself with some very reckless actions.

After reading the thread where I learned of him, it was obvious you knew him and I assumed at the very least, you knew of me. I assumed wrong. After my initial email to him in which I stated that you would vouch for me, he came back with "Good day and of course I can help ya out. Especially if George sent ya." When I saw that I got concerned and emailed him back informing him that you had not sent me. My second email to him follows...

"Well, SG didn't actually send me, I just know he's seen me around for quite some time and should be able to vouch to that fact. I'm grateful for the hook-up, however, I need to get it for the right -- honest -- reasons. Just FYI."

Now I realize I made a stupid, stupid mistake not getting your permission first, however, I in no way tried to be intentionally deceitful. Since this all happened about 7 weeks ago and I have been around for a while now, I guess I figured you'd seen me around enough to know me about as well as one can on here. a source that asks you for references sounds like a careful, discrete, thorough individual who should be around for a while to help you out.

what with all the busts going down here lately, legitimate, honest guys that have been and will be around next month/next year are hard to find.

You need to be very very aware, though, that there are very active Federal investigations going on at this time. The prime targets are sources selling DNP, Special K, and GHB. There are three known Feds who work this board and others. They have high post counts, lots of karma, and are respected members here. They are also very valuable contirbutors. They really know their juice.

Just seeing someone around here for a while does not make him a trusted person. The Feds who work these boards appear to have been around for longer than you have... and they are equally respected contributors.

Any dumb ass who gives out source information to "help" somebody out is inviting a lot of stupidity into their life. I don't source. I don't refer people to sources. I don't vouch for people. Period.

Interestingly, though, I have been contacted three times by sources in the last two weeks asking me if I could vouch for so and so. It seems someone(s) contacted sources and used me as a reference. These people who said I could 'vouch' for them are all people I don't know and have never heard of. I've never even exchanged emails or PMs with them.

Plenty of people, including several Mods, know who they are. There is just no point in telling every dumb ass kid. Besides, just because 3 are "known" does not remotely mean there are only three. There have been several highly interesting phantoms pushing really hard to get source information who sent out nearly identical PMs to people yet signed on under different names from different states and ISP numbers. Posting the information or making it more public would only create the false belief that you were "safe" so long as you didn't deal with those three.

The bottom line is there is NO reason to give out source info. Period.
