Question for gun Guru's

I went to look at a piece today. I liked the Year: 2000, Smith&Wesson 686 .357 magnum. It comes with a trigger lock, gun case, Holster, Saftey Glasses, cleaning kit, and 50 bullets.

The guy is a friend of my father's but he is a bullshiter. He want $525.00 for what was stated above.

My question to you that know about Revolvers, is this a good deal or not?

Thank you,
INsano

Weopon x- what is the matter with S&W?

TXcollege- How much would you pay for it? do you have any internet links on cheaper prices or anything?

Alot of people S&W sold out to the Clinton admin about the whole gun lock situation

I dont have any links but I never enjoyed S&W guns except for this old revolver my grandfather had during WWII

as far as price I would consider about $100 less that sounds about what they are charging around here. I know Oshmans sporting good here had a Huge sale and thats what I believe they were charging for guns similiar to that.

I have a 357 stainless steel with molded rubber grips, made by interarms, It cost around 250.00 with a box of shells. It's a good piece, I paid for the gun not the name.;)

liftsiron- this gun comes with a rubber handle and a rosewood handle as well. does that make a diff?

Weapon x - thanx i will read up on S&W

What is wong with gun locks?

C'mon, Frack, follow the links. Reason is a Libertarian mag, after all! :)

This is one part:
"The S&W pact commits the company to sell only through dealers who've agreed to a long list of controls on their own activities, including putting their employees through approved training courses, removing from their stock various perfectly lawful weapons that the Clinton administration dislikes, and not selling at gun shows unless everyone else there likewise submits to various controls that go beyond federal law. In addition, because of a clause giving regulators access to any and all dealer documents they deem necessary to determine compliance, many dealership records will wind up in regulators' hands without the need for a warrant."

While I do not agree with them selling out, there is no better gun than the .357 686 in 4 inch. Buy the damn thing. And 525 is reasonable if it is new. I paid 470, 5 years ago for a new 686.

Stainless steel is the way to go.

Gun ownership in the US?

It varies state by state. You cannot legally own a handgun until you are 21 years of age. Rifles and shotguns can be legally purchased at age 18.

Different laws for different states though. In California, there are complex laws regarding firearm characteristics in order to legally own any type of firearm, wheras in Nevada, you can legally own machine guns. It just depends on which state you live in.

All the talk this last week of terrorism, well here in ireland because of our internal security problem all I can own, apart from a shotgun is my Ruger 10/22 !

Here's my son kevin with it.

Btw way my waiting time for my licence was over 3 months with a restriction (not enforced) of 100 rounds !.
Disregarding S&W I wish we had your laws here.
