Question for computer guys.....

i want to burn dvds on my desktop which has a cdrom and a cdrw at 52x.

The dvd burner I like only burns cds at 32x so I would like to keep the cdrw at 52x.

However....I suspect having 2 internal burners could cause conflicts though one would be slave and one would be master.

I would just replace the cdrom with a dvd/cd burner.

Thanks in advance. :)

you can have the DVD burner and the CD burner hooked up at the same time.

No problems there...however, say you want to burn some music off a CD in the CD-burner on to a CD (or DVD) in the DVD burner. This WILL cause problems since both burners will be connected to the same IDE cable (ones the master; the other is the slave). However, most burning software has the option that allows you to put a copy of the source data on your hard drive and then burn it to the destination media.

It may sound a little complicated, but basically I am saying you can keep both w/ out any problems

yeah, what napolean said but I'd put em on different IDE channels.. for example make your hard drive (assuming you only have 1) master on the IDE 0 channel and the cdrom burner slave on the IDE 0 channel, then put the new dvd burner master on the IDE 1 channel.

There shouldn't be any problem. I like have an external DVD burner which I like. My CD burner is internal. The biggest benifit of an external burner is if it locks up for whatever reason you don't have to reboot. You can just turn it off and then back on. Plus external burners run a little faster.
