question about t3 cytomel......

im at about 9 wks out from my first BB novice comp coming up. at about 9-9.5% bf right now. looking really good and vascular as hell.
5' 8 178lbs....

cycle consist of 750mgs sustanon & 500mgs masteron/wk....been alternating eca/clen two wks on/two wks off... bit worried because i still have a lot of bodyfat to drop in this 9wk period. it being my first comp, i'll be satisfied to be at 5% coming in, although lower than that would be totally ideal. each wk, diet has been decreasing carbs more and more. right now am at 50g carbs/day for 6 days/1 day 400g carb... at the 8 wk mark until final wk, i will move to all fish, 6 meals day...no carbs.....for 6 days, then a 1 day carb load...
anyway, question is regarding t3/cytomel. have enough to last me 6 wks.. brand is iran hormone co. (hoping this is a quality brand)..question is, should i wait till 6 wks out to start, which would lead me right up to the comp? or should i jump on it earlier, say the 8 wk mark.. if i jump on it at the 8 wk mark instead of waiting 2 extra wks, i will be off the last 2 wks leading up to the comp. is there any sort of quick rebound off the cytomel where this would hurt me those last 2 wks? give me ideas. let me know what you think?
also note, i am at 9-9.5% bf and needing to lose bf quick. only 9 wks left.
 
I'm not a competitive bodybuilder but I can tell you that 6 weeks of T3 (I'm assuming you'll be using a dose higher than 50-75mcg) will slow down if not shut down your pituitary signaling of TSH, which in turn would stop your thyroid from pumping out T4, the inactive hormone "container" that is converted to the "active" thyroid hormone, T3. This could potentially give you hypothyroid symptoms if you just stop taking T3 all together (fatigue, weight GAIN, brain fog, sluggishness).

If you're going to start the T3 early, make sure not to stop it cold turkey, especially before the competition. You don't want to deal with hypo symptoms 2 weeks before your big day, it could ruin your work ethic. So it's important to know how comfortable you are with going the extra two weeks and decide before you start taking the T3. 4-6 weeks seems to be the consensus.

When you do stop the T3, make sure to taper off (by like 10-12.5mcg daily) so that you can avoid this. Good luck.
 
I'd strongly warn you to reconsider using thyroid drugs.. Nothing has ever fucked me up so bad...

Long story short, I felt like shit.. thought I was going to die.. and lost all my muscle (and fat.)... If you'd like to search through my threads.. I had one telling the full story.

On the contrary to Tical's post... I actually went hyperthyroid on T3.. My thyroid was "sore" and my resting heart rate was well over 120 all the time...for months..the anxiety killed, too... All from about a week of T3.. maybe a little les.. with cautious dosing..

PS-
I have heard about shutdown from T3 and other thyroid drugs, I wasn't saying Tical wasn't right as well.

Also- I'm back to normal.. it took about a year to be totally normal again.

I'd try large levels of the amino acid tyrosine and dietary iodine if you want to increase thyroid production.. Unlike testosterone production, the thyroid is easily tweaked into greater output..

To take it a step further, you may try triacana.. Available at some health food stores.

like i said in post, i have enough for 6 wk cycle. never said anything about stopping cold turkey. i know the dosages/cycling/etc..been on this board for over 10yrs..question has to do with t3 rebound. if i come off t3 two wks before comp, will there be a rebound where i'll look worse two wks later? should i start it asap or wait it out till i get down to 6 wks out. like i said, issue is, if i start now, i'd be coming off weeks before the comp.

No there shouldn't be a problem..

As I said, T3 made me hyperthyroid.. I mean that I had more than natural thyroid levels for a long time after.. Everyone is different, though.. It'd be like someone shooting test for a week then having high test for a year.. Except it was my thyroid.

It'd be best to know how you react already.. but short of that you could just drop the dose fairly low the last two weeks to "keep it going."

Or the first two weeks (or last two weeks) you could do it EOD.. or 1/2 dose..

hey dude , if you are at 9% and you still have 9 weeks to go i wouldnt really worry to much - you pprob have around 9-10 lb to go until shredded , i wouldnt go lower carbs just yet however i would split the same amount of food to 10 meals a day (yes 10) i did this last year and with 2 weeks left before holiday (my first show is next year ) i was 6 % and yes i was eating a tiny meal every 70-80 minutes but my metabolism was on fire i was sweating all day long , you still have plenty of time left so dont get to edgy - a lot of guys i know get from 15% to show condition in 8 weeks using nothin g more than a bit of clen eca and plenty of food manipulation - Good luck and enjoy your show
 
spark, that makes me feel much more confident hearing that. with it being my first comp... figured at just under 10%bf with about 9 wks left, i may not make the 5% range.. figured, i will just try my best, and if i dont get there, i dont get there, but i'll try my damndest to. with me being 178lbs, losing 5% bf isnt as much bf loss as someone with much more weight. really less than 9lbs of fat is where i am shooting for. hoping the t3 will take care of it. also, havent even jumped on cardio at all yet, but the cardio starts in full force at 8wks out.

bloke, my assumption was with me being higher in bf with only 8wks left, i would benefit more from less carb loading days right now, hence the idea of 6days low carb, 1 day carb load. my carb load consists of oatmeal, potatoes, brown rice, pasta..around 400g-450g carb....keeping protein up to around 1-1.5g per lb of body weight and fat very low. i am for around 2700cals during my carb load. my no carb days for these last 8wks will be completely fish and zero carb protein shakes...aiming for roughly 2000cals/day during this period. actually got this diet from speaking with a pro in my area. (actually competed in this yrs Olympia-Erik Fankhauser)

regarding sodium loading and water loading/depletion- i am being helped with that. will get more help as i get closer to the comp but thanks for the look out on that.

let me know your ideas of carb loading for me. do u think 6 days carb deplete with a 1 day carb load is ok? note, protein is VERY high on my no carb days. with 2000cal/day, it comes out to around 350g protein/day. may throw in some nuts to increase fats a bit, but fats are up there regardless with all the fish and extra virgin olive oil im using to cook with.
 
btw, thanks a lot in regard to my question with the cytomel bloke. lol everytime i have had difficult questions these past 6months or so, youve been the one to give the straight forward answers. very much appreciated brother!!
 
until about two wks ago, i have been doing carb loads every 4th day...progress is going well but is going very slow... i guess ive been in a bit of a panic since contest isnt too far off (9wks out now). figured the extra days of depleted carbs will shred me up a bit quicker...put me in more of a ketogenic state for a longer period of time.
