Question about single factor 5x5

seizer

New member
I want to give this one a shot, but right now I just finished my third week of the dual factor program. Should I continue on with what im doing and then do the single factor when im done, take a week off and then continue with single factor, deload for a week, or just jump into the single factor next week? OR something better than what i've suggested...

this would be great if i could get some help with this, thanks!!

Jeez, I'm gonna need backup soon ;)

Where are you at at the moment? How long have you been lifting, etc, etc?

I assume that since you're interested in the SF, you're new enough to lifting that you can/should be able to make gains from week to week. In the grand scheme of things, how you transition into the SF over the next couple of weeks isn't going to make much difference.

As you're three weeks into the DF, you should already have an idea of what weights you can handle for each of the exercises. That being the case, you could just jump into the SF next week with weights that you know you can handle, then try to set PR's the week after. Any fatigue that you've built up will slowly dissipate over the next few weeks with the lower volume of the SF and might give you a bit of a kick start.

Welcome to SF land and good luck!

Thanks for that reply AB.

I've been training for about 1.5-2 years now. I've ran the dual factor bill starr program about 3-4 times already...so it doesnt matter if i start next week on the sf?

Don't worry, if you start the SF next week, a training routine ogre won't jump out and beat you about the head.

You've finished week three of the DF, which means you've built up your conditioning a bit and you're fitter, but you've also accrued some fatigue. The SF is less volume than the loading weeks of the DF, so you will recover from the fatigue and the fitness will probably help you over the next few weeks.

I would give you advise but I don't know much about this single factor thing. :)
